JFK-SIN

The singapore airlines website will not let me search for any award flights on the JFK-SIN route departing after 10/25/2020. It does however show flights in the opposite direction. It will let me search for paid fares though too. Anyone know whats going on?

SQ has not loaded all the routes for NW 2020 yet.

Thanks everyone. I find it a bit strange the flight had not been loaded yet. I have been monitoring award availability for the past few weeks and the flights usually become available at 8 AM Singapore time on the dot. I haven't checked since the time change in the US though. Perhaps that is affecting things.

Something strange is going on with these flights. I have been monitoring SQ25 & 26 for the past 2 months looking up flights 355 days in the future as they become available to book and until recently suite awards became available each day at 8AM Singapore time for departures on Monday through Wednesday. Recently things have been strange. Searching for JFK-SIN awards turns up no results but if I run a search for the flight that became available to book the previous day (i.e. 354 days in the future) and select flexible travel dates I am able to see the flight 355 days in the future though it is usually only waitlistable. Even more strange SQ26 doesn't even come up. Instead only SQ326 which has much worse timing is bookable.

What the heck is going on? Does SQ change award availability seasonally? Or maybe due to the time change in the US but not Singapore flight become available at different times?

What class? Across all classes? Or just the one you are looking at?

setho212 Nov 8, 2019 6:46 pm

Just looking at suites. Ultimately, I am hoping to book tickets for my wife and I in January 2021 for JFK-SIN-MLE. I have all the necessary miles and will be ready to pull the trigger 355 days out.

Guess it is SQ IT at its best. We won’t know what SQ is thinking. Or maybe someone else manage to book it immediately.
And for your booking , you still have to call in n book. Unless you wan to secure the suites first and call in later to add in the SIN-MLE leg

lokijuh Nov 8, 2019 9:55 pm

IT wonkiness aside (most likely explanation), another possible explanation, maybe a change in operating aircraft due around then? As in 12 suites -> 6 ? If you can see seats in other classes available then this could be an explanation. If you can't see seats in other classes, then back to the wonky IT explanation.

Just my 2c -
JFK-SIN arrives +2 days later while the opposite direction SIN-JFK arrives on the same day, perhaps all flights for the entire network need to be avail. for redemption before it'll get posted?
I had the same experience about 2 weeks ago .. just wait a day or 2 more and it'll be available.

I managed to book Suites class for my birthday next year (on the actual day) from SYD-JFK via SIN

If you see it, book it! Don't wait as it'll disappear the following day for sure!
I've not checked this week but last week, all the Saver awards before and after my birthday were all gone

And a good tip is - if you wanna do a wait list + hold a confirmed booking, the system won't allow you to so just call it in & the SQ KF agents will be more than happy to help :-:

Good luck & now, let's all pray that SQ 25/26 gets the new A380 in 2020 ... :D

I would assume that Suites availability could be set at ZERO for heavy travel seasons (incl. January 2010).

maverick_23 Nov 10, 2019 7:07 am

I have been doing the same for SIN - JFK and JFK - SIN.

I think it is likely they restrict Saver availability during travel heavy months.

The best bet is to go full standard but I can't really stomach the difference between that and Saver. I am also worried that if the New Suites is introduced, we will not see any saver availability like ZRH and LDR.

Upon further reflection this appears to be whats is happening. The fact that SQ 25 isnt available but 325 is seems to indicate suites are not available on saver awards while the first class on 325 may be. Unfortunately I do not have enough miles for an advantage award suites award. Which brings me to my next question..

Is mid-January considered a heavy travel season? My plan was to travel in the period between New Years and Chinese New Year (which is Feb 12, 2021).

So it appears awards have settled into a pattern of allowing suites to be waitlisted Mon-Wed on SQ25/26 while business class fares can be booked at saver rates. If all else fails I can just waitlist the suites and book the business class. I still hope though that mid-January is not such a busy travel time that they do not permit suites to be booked.

Setho212.... I am hoping to book a very similar itinerary for Feb 2021 (my is JFK-FRA-SIN-DPS outbound and HKG-SIN-FRA-JFK return) so I am very interested in hearing how your booking experience plays out. Please post your outcome.

I am trying to book SIN-JFK as soon as it opens up. I was always able to find saver suites available at 8pm east coast time but every week lately it’s not been straight wait list. Maybe it’s the time change? You said 8am Singapore which with the time change is now 7pm East coast?

Can you waitlists the saver suites then book business saver with the same points? I would do that and transfer more points if the waitlist clears.
