The Sarong Kebaya

Did you know that each Sarong Kebaya is tailor made personally for each girl?

I just read the same article - I think nowadays it semi-tailored, like men suits. I have seen some FAs Kebaya's less fitting ....but could be due to change in body size

From what I was told by en ex-SQ cabin crew, they weren't allowed to get too big for the sarong kebaya for a certain length of time (maybe it was for their initial contract). The cost of the individual fitting might explain it.

Indeed, all crew participate in an ongoing "weight management" program, and this is assessed when they return to the Training Centre for any course(s).

As for the Kebaya, it is individually tailored - both principal tailors are based in the Orchard Road area and a Stewardess has to go for 2 appointments, firstly for an initial measurement and next for a fitting before they can collect their uniforms; the entire process takes between 2-4 months.
