Upper deck A380 - 800 seats (layout one)

Hi all.
My family and I have booked flights to London from Brisbane on Singapore Airlines departing in October.
Flight SQ308 from Singapore to London is on the A380 -800 (Version one) with economy seats on the upper deck.
As we are travelling with children we get complimentary seat selection however when I go to select the seats for this flight they are only offering me lower deck seats, itís as if the upper deck doesnít exist.
My question is is this normal and will they release the upper deck seats closer to the flight departure?
Thanks in advance 😊

I think that this flight is operated by version 2 with no upper deck YCL. Iím flying SQ308 in Oct as well and itís all JCL on top.

SQ308 is alway a version 2 plane. There isnít enough version 1 to do this rotation.

As for seat guru, it is not official information. Trust the seat map in SQ instead.

Seat guru is not actually a guru at all. Too many errors. A helpful site, but it cannot be totally relied on.

Aside from the general "how accurate is SeatGuru" issues, doesn't SG simply show that there might be more than one version, and when one clicks to look at the others, it just shows which is "most common" or something like that?
I'm not remembering any time when SG even claimed that a particular version was supposed to be on a particular airline/flight number. Or at least, that's not how I interpreted it when SG showed alternate possible versions. (But perhaps I missed something.)

Version 1 currently does:
SQ25/26 SIN-FRA-JFK
SQ231/SQ222 Sydney route
SQ403/406 Delhi
SQ856/861 HKG
SQ802/807 Beijing

though I have read that some routes will switch for the winter schedule (i.e. V1 deployed to other routes like MEL)

Trust SQ site as your final information source.
Searguru is an inaccurate 3rd party website.
