Overlapping award booking?

I booked an award LHR-SIN-DPS . but there's a chance I'll have to go to CGK , so I booked a separate ticket that day from SIN-CGK.

I'll be able to decide before hand and remove the CGK if necc, but will there be a time that SQ will detect the overlap and unilaterally cancel something, or will they ask me which one to cancel?

Normally they only care if you got multiple confirmed bookings on the same day and same flight and possibly same cabin.

When you mean separate SINCGK, i hope in a different booking ref. Then should be fine.

Yes its a separate booking ref of course. How could it not be?

Altea has a mechanism that will flag out duplicate bookings so it is entirely possible for them to detect two different bookings for the same person on same flight, date, cabin, etc.

Now if such booking was made using a KF profile or such, they can tell for sure whether it is the same person. If it is two TA/OTA type booking with only first and last name it is a bit harder to tell whether two Michael Smith are the same person or different ones.

I have had this situation before, usually when booking corporate travel where say we confirm SIN-CGK in Y fare bucket and our corporate TA waitlists an E fare for the exact same itinerary as it will save 200-300S$. When the waitlist gets confirmed we are then given x hours / y days to pick one confirmed set of flights and cancel the other. Else SQ will cancel one automatically. YMMV

Thanks, that's good to know. They are both awards but one booked from my account and one from wife's account (simply due to me having no miles left). Anyway my KF# is indeed on both bookings but these are entirely diff flights and cabins. I do plan to cancel out one the day or two before but good to know they would tell me to choose one if they do indeed detect it.
