Best lounge at SIN?
 

I have a five hour layover in SIN connecting from UA flight SFO-SIN to SQ SIN-PER. Separate tickets but luggage checked through to PER.

I am in J on both UA (paid) and SQ (award). I am a 1K with United and Star Alliance Gold. I also have access to AMEX Centurion lounges and have a Priority Pass card.

Which is the best lounge I can access, and how long would it take to walk from the lounge to my gate for PER? It has been 7 years since i was last at SIN. I am stopping over in SIN on the way back so do not plan on leaving the airport on the way to PER.

All depends on where your gate is! We can give you a maximum time. Are you are a fast, average or slow walker?

SilverKris lounge will be best. T3 is better than T2, but probably not worth changing terminals for. Walking time is unlikely to be more than 20 mins.

SKL are nothing special. With five hours to kill, I would consider the transit hotel (Aerotel). It has a pool :)

As much as I like SQ in the air, isn't it a shame that there ground service is so bad, including their mediocre lounges.

SIN-PER would fly out of T3 anyway, but yeah, not much difference between the two other than size.

Hopeful this will improve with the lounge refreshes at SIN . . . .

There aren't (m)any *A lounge options in SIN (unfortunately and very surprisingly). SKL and the PP lounges (SATS & DNATA) in T3 are right next to each other. And depending on when you're flying the new temporary *G lounge maybe open.

But none of the lounges are anything to write home about. So unless you're a very keen lounge hopper I'd twiddle my thumbs in SKL until the time of the flight.

If you're a lounge veteran, yes nothing too special. They're lounges. If you're not used to lounges they'll be good enough . Perfectly functional, acceptable lounges with a reasonable range of food offerings - representative of Singapore with a range of Malay, Indian, local Chinese and Western foods, all edible, but nothing that's got a wow factor. Also bear in mind that it's a business class lounge you'll be going to, not a first, so need to manage expectations. Whilst a few have more up to date furniture, and some have some good gimmicks - like's QF "prepare to order" (ie. "reheated to order") - or CX's noodle station - it's probably not really much worse than the most middle-top tier business class lounges I've been to (the three stand out exceptions that come to mind in my experience are TK's IST lounge and the whiskey bar at LX's ZRH lounge, and for networkwide consistency EK's lounges), but it all depends on what floats your boat.

And if you do want cooked to order food, at SIN, unlike many places around the world, airport food is relatively inexpensive, and plenty of good hawker and some semi-decent non hawker food for moderate prices, if the lounge doesn't meet your needs.

I enjoyed my visit to the Private Room last year. It's no FCT, but the food and service were very good. One of the agents noticed I was leaving a bit close to departure, called me a cart, and personally escorted me to the gate. I was on an award ticket.
