Miss Connecting Flight HKG SQ1
Question for the flyer talk community. I am thinking of booking a flight from SFO to SIN on SQ1 (which has a stop in HKG). There is a chance I may need to reroute to HKG instead for business reasons. Would there be any issue in flying the first leg of SQ1 (SFO to SIN) and skipping the second leg (HKG to SIN)? |
As long as you have hand luggage only and no other future flights on that PNR you should be ok.
While all airlines frown on skiplagging... you should not have a problem... it is always good to inform SQ staff as you bail on an "emergency" so that they don't hold up the plane while they look for you. |
With this possibility I’d me more inclined to do Sq 1 to HKG transferring to SQ 857 (about 1 hr later) to SIN. Might make it neater with two flight numbers. |
If you’re intending to fly back to SFO on the same ticket then if you skip a leg, you are likely to lose the rest of the ticket. If you’re buying one way then this point does not apply. |
The OP is unclear. It can be read as suggesting that he has onward / return segments. If that is the case, if he offloads at HKG and skips the onward segment to SIN, those onwards or return segments from SIN will be cancelled and retain whatever value, if any, they retain under the ticket's fare rules. Likely $0.

It would be a 1-way ticket so no issue with return leg being cancelled. Should I inform ground staff I intend to abandon the remaining legs upon landing in HKG? Or should I just no show and proceed on my way. |
