Booking EWR-SIN with MR to KF to MP

I am looking to book a flight from EWR to SIN. I have a bunch of Amex MR points and was looking to do a transfer into KrisFlyer and book that way. Question is can I use these segments to show up on my United Mileage Plus? I dont need the KrisFlyer rewards. If so, would I get the mileage/segments/$$. Thanks

What makes you think that you can earn MileagePlus miles from flights booked with frequent-flyer miles?

Being part of the Star Alliance, I thought there could be some link to my Mileage Plus with this Singapore flight. More specifically status miles/segments etc

If it were on a cash-paid ticket, sure. But as a general rule, frequent-flyer award tickets do not earn miles on the operating carrier or any of its partners.

This language appears in the KrisFlyer terms and conditions:

"For industry discount, agency discount or award tickets, infant fares and other special discounted tickets as specified by Singapore Airlines or airline partners from time to time, no KrisFlyer miles will be earned."

I'm sure you can find similar language in the MileagePlus terms and conditions. Or perhaps the fare basis of your KrisFlyer award ticket will be one of the non-mileage-earning fare bases if you look at the MileagePlus earnings chart for SQ flights.

Looks like through Amex I only have the option it put the KrisFlyer account. Over at singaporeair, I can put in United MP account.

If the Amex travel portal won't let you enter a UA FFN, leave the field blank, and have SQ enter it after you've booked the ticket. But be aware that, depending on the type of ticket Amex books for you with your points, you might not earn miles. Check the fare basis.
