Using SQ miles for Vistara Lap Child

Hi, has anyone used their SQ miles to make a Vistara reservation that included a lap child? I was trying to make one today via the phone center but was told I would need to buy a full redemption ticket for the lap infant. Would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has experience in this area. Thanks in advance.

My experience is that you either have to pay in cash 10% of the price for a lap infant, or redeem miles for a seat for the infant.

Thanks. I was expecting the 10% but not the have to redeem miles for an additional seat.

The agent was correct.... https://www.singaporeair.com/saar5/p...t_%20Apr19.pdf

Child/Infant discounts do not apply

Seems like a very silly rule in my book. You should call up UK and ask them if they will issue a revenue ticket for the infant on a SQ award booking. Alternatively buy the infant ticket at the airport counter it should be only taxes and nothing else.

Thanks. I did read that as well but the wording was vague enough to me that I felt that I should check (10% is usually a standard rate for lap child booking, not something I'd think was a "discount"). I did ask UK and the phone agent was happy to try but I would need to lock in the SQ booking first. In the end I didn't want to take a chance of locking in miles on SQ if I was required to buy a third seat so I just booked with G8. Still am curious thought if other people have encountered this and if their experience was the same or different.

If they can’t issue it over the phone they will be able to do it for sure at the airport. Which airport are you flying out of?

Getting infant tickets issued and attached to award tickets stumps phone agents in every airline.... more so when the ticket doesn’t belong to them.

This leg was PNQ-DEL. Yep, I've just started discovering the joy of trying to ticket lap children. Had booked an AA award on EY but had to just cancel it after getting the run around on getting a lap child ticketed. Both AA and EY insisted that the other one would do it. SMH. After bouncing between them about 10 times I just canceled it.

I’ve suffered through that nonsense several times. Including on itineraries with 3-4 carriers. Those were really fun to deal with.

Rule is that the operating carrier has to issue the ticket and attach it to the adult’s ticket. In my experience <5% of the phone operators in any airline know how to do this. The good thing is that all airport staff have been able to issue this ticket for me no problem. Maybe it’s because the operating airline has more control over the ticket at T-24. Maybe because there are more competent agents at lounges... I don’t know.

The bad thing is that last minute 10% of F & J fares can be several hundred to over a 1000 dollars!

UK staff at PNQ should be able to help you. But I’d feel more confident if you were flying out of DEL.
