Unfavourable increase in SQ-VA conversion rate
Effective 1 January 2019
Previous: 1.35 KF miles to 1 Velocity New: 1.55 KF miles to 1 Velocity. Hasn't been announced the other way, but imagine Velocity will match As a VA --> SQ frequent transferer this is annoying, but not surprising as I can earn 20k miles for a SYD-PER in J (15k KF miles) |

A colleague whose husband works for SQ tells me (often) that Australian-based SQ staff regard VA elites visiting their lounge as little better than riff-raff. I'd expect VA elite privileges to disappear too. It's been a good lurk while it lasted

I have alot of points tied to Velocity but now based in Bangkok
Do you think it's a good idea to transfer over before the changes take place? I don't think I've ever redeemed a VA flight. Always just booked flights with VA partner airlines via Velocity website |
VA also announced that they are adding carrier surcharges to their flights.
I find SQ points more valuable than VA. So of the 1m VA points in my account now, I plan to move ~600-700k over to SQ.
