Solitaire PPS qualification

On singaporeair.com,

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">
Solitaire PPS Club Membership is awarded upon qualifying for the 5th consecutive year as a PPS Club Member, with no lapse in Membership over the previous 4 years and accumulating a minimum of 500,000 credited flight miles or 250 flight sectors* on First or Business Class with Singapore Airlines and SilkAir.

I received a 3Q edition of the priority magazine, which says ...

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">
For a start, we are very pleased to announce that upgrading to the Solitaire Tier will happen without the need to reach the fourth consecutive year as a PPS Club member, as long as you have either 500,000 miles or 250 sectors, and met full requalifying criteria without extention of membership.</font>
So if you fly 500,000 miles or 250 sectors in QPPS1, you can be a Solitaire?

Hmmm I should do mileage run for getting the Solitaire http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

"without the need to reach a fourth"... so, doesnt that mean that you need three years... or am I reading into something incorrectly?

Instead of being able to qualify earlier what happens if at the end of your 4th qualifying year you have say only 450,000 miles? Can you then qualify in the next year when you may have the extra 50,000 miles?

Yes.

So whats the consensus, do you indeed require the 3 years or not...?

according to the staff at the paragon pps centre, there is no longer a time requirement to reach solitaire. so you could actually become solitaire as a QPP1 if you fly that much.

to become solitaire, you only need to accrue the 500,000 miles or 250 sectors.

With the new rules without 4 consecutive years as PPS, this month I qualified for Solitaire by reaching slightly over 250 sectors. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif Now, I have to wait what benefits I will receive. Do you think I will get better treatment in flight? Or just business as usual.
One question is, as I read in the web, as solitaire, my spouse will be eligible as solitaire as well. Unfortunately, I have no spouse, except "significant other". Do you think SQ will make an exception for this?

Gaucho100K Dec 5, 2003 5:10 pm

I think if you can provide documentation that your 'better half' shares a domicile with you, this should fly. If SQ refuses, I suggest you tell them you will go to the papers... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

CGK: Congratulations on your Solitaire status!
I think SQ will let your 'significant other' to be your Solitaire Supplementary Card. What are they going to do, anyway? Ask for a marriage certificate?
Hey, does this mean your luggage will be ahead of mine on SQ20? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Gaucho100K: Where have you been? Haven't been seeing u on the SQ board.

Hey it doesn't mean Solitaire tags will make faster my bags. Sometimes the agent just put Solitaire tags with priority F or C eventhough I was not Solitaire yet. And last time I was taking CGK-SIN-HKG SQ 2 my luggages did not come with F or C eventhough I was in F. It was in the middle of Y almost the end.

StarG Dec 6, 2003 9:20 pm

I have experienced the same before in HKG. It is quite confusing where the baggage will come out from, with two baggage outlets for the same carousel.
But on some occassions, SQ ground staff have all the priority bags ready off the carousel in HKG as we arrive.

I have many times received F priority tags although I was travelling C, but never a Solitaire one.

Will be going to HKG two weeks from now.
