There are a lot of global SQ routes that rationally would take priority over both SYD and MEL, but Australia is a key market for the airline and they basically have a monopoly on F seats to Asia ex-AU, and from in MEL in particular.

Hi, I am checking flights for May 2019. Has Singapore cancelled all A380 flight to Melbourne?

yes. Wef 27/4/18 777-300ER replace A380 to Melbourne (except 17/6 to 31/7). The A380 go to Tokyo instead.

I'm booked in J on SQ217 on 2 Nov, still showing A388 (Y at rear of Upper Deck) at the moment, so I'll expect a change in the near future.

i wouldn’t be surprised if that stays as it is. Historically the A380 seems to come back onto SQ 217/8 for the summer peak (for a few months), although December - March would be a safer bet for this than early November.

Actually the 4-seat cabin on 777-300ER is very pleasant. It's a shame not to have the second, rear facing, seat of the old Suites, but a better staff: passenger ratio and toilet: passenger ratio. It is also a very stylish cabin. I wouldn't lose much sleep over it, especially if you will get Suites for the rest of the journey.

Nothing wrong with the 77W F product, but SQ arguably has the widest spectrum between its F-branded products (77W F -> Old Suites -> New Suites) from a comfort/hard product perspective while asking the same cash price/redemption cost for them on several routes.

As earlier mentioned in the thread, it switches to Tokyo (NRT) from 27 April.

You could argue EY and EK are the same wide spectrum. EY - 787/777 vs A380 apartments. EK 777 vs A380 (and new suites 777, which there are few).

I disagree, as both EY and EK have fully enclosed and spacious suites as their 'baseline' F. The SQ 777-style F seat is not comparable, in my opinion.

Yes. They switch based on seasonality.
