This thread is stuck in a "I want an amenity kit, so therefore airlines should provide them" vs "I don't want an amenity kit, so therefore airlines shouldn't provide them" argument for which there will be no resolution. Some people find amenity kits of value, some don't. For better or worse, SQ has decided that amenity kits are not important in differentiating its business class offering. Customers can vote with their wallet. Personally, it's not a dealbreaker.

Actually it's more like the latter group doesn't really give a h00t if SQ starts giving out kits in J or not. After all, they're handing it out in Y and F. But we're being told that we're wrong, because we actually need be incensed that SQ can't even deliver the same level of service as other 'disgusting' airlines. *shrug*

Some other items that could be offered by 5 star airlines: scratch cards, stuffed toys, luggage tags...

Sorry mods if not allowed...

I have two unopened kits (still in plastic wrapper) if anyone wants them. PM me. These kits are identical to the photos posted upthread. Received them on SIN-SFO flights.

this thread is still open ?

At the end of the day, that's a lot of waste. Think about the environment for once and not your wallet. You don't need the stuff anyway. What you need you can ask for it and find it in the bathroom. Fine by me.

I quite liked the amenity kit when I occassionaly travel in J, so I can save it to use it for my other trips in Y. However, it became sort of a waste when most of my travels are in J. I do use some amenities but I don't take the case unless if it's good quality and big enough to be used as a "small travel bag".

However, I would be disappointed for such a premium airline like SQ that doesn't have a unique amenity kit.

I'll be flying in J from SIN to TPE next February. Do you think they'll still give away the 70th anniversary amenity kit?

Am rather impressed with the 70th anniversary amenity kit !
Pleasantly surprised to receive one even on a " SL " flight
For a generous change , someone in management actually thought through not to stinge in this celebratory token
( An improvement to the cookie received in KIX in April )
Looking to receive more in a couple of weeks .
Pouch is handy , a keeper .

Haven't found out when we will receive this till , etcetera . If given out in all outbound . None on SIN outbound flights in May to HKG or SFO .

I got mine yesterday on SQ26 SIN-FRA. It's nice, small and handy. The pouch has a nice feel to it and can be re-used easily.

They even provide transparent plastic "zip-lock" bags in case you need to carry these in your future carry-on luggage.

I rarely even open the kits as they don't have anything useful for me except sometimes a toothbrush that I might use after. Most of the eyeshades are uncomfortable (too tight) except for a few special ones that I've collected over the years. Like most smart travelers I wear special compression socks to avoid DVT so the socks that come with most kits are 100% useless to me.

I give them away to my relatives who fly economy or to homeless shelters. Mrs. B also finds a few of the nicer cases (e.g. tumi) to be useful for storing pill bottles, etc.

That being said, I care so little about the kits that I would not even use this as a tiebreaker when selecting an airline.

+1 Love slippers, no way I would ever set foot in a lav with those socks.

^^^ This. And even more importantly, the FAs clean the lavs periodically so they don't smell like a latrine at a Dead concert halfway thru the flight.
