What is the best way to maximize miles with SQ

Hi, I am a newbie so please bare with me.

I am planning to book 5 adult ticket with SQ from KTM>SYD with layover in SIN. If i book using my krisflyer account will I be able to get all the miles for the booking or do i have to create each family members krisflyer account?

The latter. You can only earn miles for your own seat regardless of the fact you have paid for your other 4 family members seats.

What phunc said. To make matters worse, once you get the miles in the 5 separate accounts, you can't pool them to make redemptions in the future.

Forget Krisflyer if you are not going to frequently use SQ. Bank into ANA. You can create a family account to pool your *A miles. Make sure your fare class is eligible for mileage accural with ANA though.

Actually the ANA advice is good only for the SIN-SYD sector. It won't work for KTM-SIN sector as it is operated by MI, who are not a star alliance member. Also even on SIN-SYD, if the fare is in a saver or sale economy class (N,Q,K,V) it won't earn any points either in ANA's program and if in flexi-saver class it will earn less than it would on SQ (50% or 70% miles) .

The only other option I thought of, if the snuniyar can access and address in Australia or NZ (eg. through friends or relatives) they could set up an account with Virgin Australia's velocity program and set up that with "Family Pooling" which allows up to 2 adults and 4 children at the same address to pool points (and status credits). They earn on Silkair flights and also earn at the same rate as Krisflyer (although the burn rate is a bit higher). Obviously with five adults though that won't work terribly well, but if the adults are related you can transfer between accounts as an alternative.
