Why PPS?
The acronym sounds archaic.
I know it stands for Priority Passenger Service... but that name alone sounds even more archaic. Isn't it time that SQ changes it to a more endearing, coveted or dignified name? |
I totally agree and have thought this for many years now. Most people have no idea what PPS stands for anyway.

I actually don't mind it . After what name could more Singaporean than a TLA*?
Remember the best way to get to your SIA flight is along the ECP, the PIE or the TPE (don't forget at certain times you incur an ERP fee), or perhaps catch the MRT or the SBS 36 bus, but probably not if you're a PPS. And of course you can pay for your taxi with your DBS or UOB credit card. I mean really, what's not to love about the TLA that is PPS? :p Agree or disagree, one thing the name PPS does differentiate it from the treadmill of Golds, Platinums, Diamonds, Titaniums, etc which have all come to mean different things (usually less than they originally did) over the years in different loyalty programs. I can't think of too many names that wouldn't sound any more or less silly {to be polite}. Maybe Californium status? Although many would argue, that now it perhaps should be changed to "OPPS" ("Occasional Priority Passenger Service")? Jokes aside, in it's target market, PPS is probably a well established brand, albeit few people actually know what it stands for (and do they need to know anyway?). Sometimes it can be a courageous decision to change a brand such as that. * TLA = Three Letter Acronym |
