Would you pay your own money for SQ's PE?

Just want to understand where is value there.

It can/does cost 50% more of regular Y, there is no separate dining menu, seats have fixed armrest, so in case seat next to you is empty, you can't use extra space to seat more comfortably, etc, etc.

Am I missing something?

Yes.

100% mileage on all FFPs;

When travelling with a companion no sharing of the row;

On ultra long haul (say, two back-to-back 12h flights) the recline and legroom make a real difference;

Separate cabin with better service and much quieter than the main Y cabin.

If you compare it to bottom-of-the-barrel Y then yes, it's awfully expensive; if you compare it to a semi-flexible fare it's a modest price hike for tangible benefits.

+1

I think this is the real sticking point. If PE is priced 40-50% above a Flexi Saver or Flexi ticket (Which both earn 100% miles), then I'd deem it as excessively expensive. At 15-30% premium I would personally say it is fair value and probably spend the extra money.

Service isn't remarkably better (there's no dedicated PEY staff) and the cabin is just as 'noisy' as main Y - there's only a thin sheet separating the two

... and the curtain towards Y is kept open. Toilet shared with the Y section.

I usually fly on semi-flexible Y tickets but still to me the fare difference is too much.
That's why: No, I wouldn't fork out the money from my own pocket.

Either revenue ticket or award one, I would choose Y class considering price/mileages
for value - I mean, short to medium haul flights.
The gap between Y-PE is not as large as PE-J, I think.
Surely I would choose PE when company allows although

I posted in another thread recently. We found the cabin crew were very attentive, constantly asking to top up our drinks. The IFE screen was great, the extra space was great.

The seat wasn't super comfortable, especially for overnight, but it's not J. It reclined quite far though.

The food was obviously the same, just with an additional choice and BTC options. Champagne was nice but in plastic cup.

Priority check in, boarding and baggage was good, although there was no priority boarding at Singapore.
We paid and I would do it again.

For me - no. Primarily because I would not even pay for SQ's flexi/flexi saver Y fares.

I have paid for PE (SIN-FRA-SIN) part of a BNE-FRA trip. Cost me an extra A$900 above Y Flexi Saver. For the long sector I was happy just for extra space and bigger screen. Priority luggage was nice too. Extra SC earn got me VA Gold so nice bonus there.

I would pay for it again but would depend on Y fares.

No, not even remotely.

For starters, you don't have the re###ded parents who let their spawn play videogames or videos without headphones and you don't have the giant families who scream across the aisles.

The hardware in SQ Y is very fine and more than sufficient for me, the passengers are not.
