Singapore suites vs JAL First

Appreciate any insight from those familiar with the products.

I booked Singapore suites NRT-LAX (using miles, obviously). Also have an option to book JAL First HND-SFO instead, which is more direct. Which would you choose? Is suites worth an extra connection and dealing with NRT?

My response? No, Suites aren't worth the extra hassle.

I flew JL F on Friday night - it was fantastic (it probably helped that I was the only F passenger). Had a terrific sleep on the flight - bed was very comfortable. Crew were excellent. I love SQ Suites, but NRT is such a pain to schlep out to and then you have to transit in LAX.

Agree, I would go with JL. We've flown both airlines and SQ isn't what it used to be.
SQ First Suites NRT-LAX
JL First Class NRT-LAX

Funny how this is a SQ forum and so far both replies steer you toward JAL. However, they are both correct! Go with JAL.

I'm essentially an exclusively SQ (and QR for what it's worth) flyer and I absolutely love the JAL Sky Suite F product. One of my favourite F products and I go out of my way to fly it. Beats SQ hands down imo.

Beware those looking to profit from your cancellation because they're waitlisted for a suites award themselves

He didn't supply any dates, so how would you profit?

Anyway, I've never applied for an SQ award, so it doesn't affect my view.

If the OP were departing from SIN, the FC/Suites check in lounge and then TPR would be a strong argument for SIN. Otherwise, I'd look at the schedules and especially compare when one would leave from central Tokyo for NRT or HND. At NRT, SQ uses the ANA FC/Suites lounge, which is good but not spectacular IMO.

If the OP was departing SIN there wouldn't be an argument - no JAL F ex-SIN.

I find the SQ TPR underwhelming.

Agreed but it's a novelty for most, particularly US flyers.

I would go for JAL F... if only to have their Japanese fine dining experience, which they do truly, truly well.

Do keep in mind JAL does not serve its spectacular menu on the HND-SFO departure given the time at which it leaves. A not-insignificant black mark IMO.

If it was NRT-LAX on JL F (which has full service) I would say no contest to go with JAL. But in this case where the service is watered down on JL F, I would say the choice isn't that clear. I personally would do SQ for the A380 in this situation.
