The A380 will be replaced by the 77W on SIN-NRT routes for SQ 638 & 637 starting 27-March, 2016. Take note if you had booked in Suites on these routes.

I was booked in suites for travel in late April SIN-NRT-LAX on SQ 638 and SQ12. I gave SQ a ring and noted the schedule change, asking to be accommodated on SQ12 the whole way through. The agent was willing to help and changed my itinerary, he stated that he would have to contact another office to have the seats released but it shouldn't be a problem. He said it would take a few days, we are on day 3 and I haven't heard anything yet.
Is SQ usually pretty good about accommodating passengers on another flight due to a schedule/equipment change?

My wife and I are booked on SQ 638 next June. Just received the emails alerting me to the change and showing the new seat assignments. I originally booked this flight so that we could have dinner in the Private Room before the flight. We paid for a stopover in Tokyo and depart on SQ12 the following day.
Now I am just trying to decide if I want to try to change anything or just keep our schedule as is since we will most likely sleep for most of that flight. Is SQ12 from NRT to LAX enough to truly give us the experience of flying the Suites?

It's operated on the B772 now with the regional business class seats, unfortunately. Ever since SQ started operating at HND, 638/637 is no longer as popular and is served by the regional frames.

I was on B787 on SQ638 last month to NRT. Comparing this to A380 in terms of J class seating, I would have prefer the A380 seat as it is bigger and doesn't feel so cramped. I was on the window seat nearer to the window and it can be a little tough for bigger size person to get in and out. For me, both seats are equally fine for me. Enjoy the flight!

I flew SQ638/637 in Oct and Nov on 787 and I much prefer the regional seat. Admittedly we had 11D&F, but even if not the bed surface and straight sleeping position were much more to my liking.
I really dislike the 2006/2013 J seat unless I can secure a bulkhead. The folding down, the hard back, the mini cubby hole angled into a corner for small feet - not my cup of tea. The seat is more spacious on A380 though, A350 is tight. YMMV.
