Not good. The newest bird in the fleet experiencing such a severe incident.

Hope the cause can be determined and fixes installed.

Concerned they only tested the engines for 4 hours before return flight.

Singapore Airlines Flight 836

Glad that it turned out ok. Tad worrisome that the same a/c operated the return but I am sure that the engineers and crew knew what they were doing.

Am I the only person who thinks that the local media's under-reported this?

Oh, and yes, agree with lcpteck- life goes on- I fly MH a fair bit too - more than SQ in fact!

Reported what?

(nb: tongue in cheek remark about local media and self-censorship, not to make light of the incident itself)

No idea what is happening on TV, but the story is on first page of Channel New Asia and Yahoo Singapore webpages.

Speculating, but sounds more like a flight software issue that could've cut off both engines.
