Fare difference refunded?
 

I booked a return ticket in Flexi Saver with 1 year validity for HKD11200 from HKG to LHR via SIN two weeks ago. Last Thursday, when I tried to change the departure flight online, the website said I'll have HKD 1100 refunded. I thought it was some glitches in website as the fare to make new booking the same flight was similar to my booking price. To my suprise I got the refuned amount in my credit card as I checked it today! Does anyone have similar experience or I'm getting lucky?
I only expect airlines to charge you for changing not refund.

Well, you have to pay for the fare difference if the new fare (under the same fare class) is more expensive than the old one. It seems only reasonable then for SQ to refund the difference if the new fare is cheaper than the old one.
