Question Singapore Economy vs. Cathay Pacific Economy

Which has the better economy class? SQ A380 or CX 777-300 (with new economy seats)?

Window seats are better on CX 77W than an SQ A380.
There is no wall to lean on, on an SQ A380.

When it comes to noise, the SQ A380 wins.

I prefer SQ A380. I assume you are refering to B77W on CX. the PTV is touch screen which I do not like. So entertainment SQ win.

Seat is subjective and I think not much different.

Sorry to be rude...

But are you not bothered to do a search yourself especially since this topic has been compared before?

People who take CX vs SQ vary - some prefer CX , some prefer SQ. If you ask people here, most will give you their reasons for flying CX. If you ask over at SQ forum, most will say.. well, what do you think? Which incidentally I see you already did that. Double post - is verboten ! You changed the title but your content is just a copy of this one.

Check also trip reports and comments on Skytrax.

Can't comment on the SQ A380, tried LH A380 and CX new Y on 777.

The only thing I'm impressed by CX new Y is the HD screen - the touch screen was responsive and pictures were good. The seat pitch is a big problem IMO - could be due to the thicker seats. I'm not even that tall and no matter how thick the seats were the guy behind me was kicking me during the whole flight.

Those seats are definitely more comfy than the hard shell seats, but TBH they are no difference compared to TK Y seats.

LH A380 Y seats are practically a joke, if you are over 80kg your seat will be automatically reclined which leaves you no space. Those seats are paper thin and really uncomfortable. I did hear quite some good comments on SQ over CX.

CX stopped giving out amenity kits for Y pax, not sure about SQ - last time I flew SQ you could still get toothbrush at the toilet.

I was disappointed by CX - especially because I'm from Hong Kong.

Which is the great grand benefit of the SQ 380 upper deck ... no wall in your way!

Sorry for double-posting; I didn't know that was against the rules, and I won't do that again. Also, I did try searching, but didn't find anything in particular comparing SQA380Y to CX777Y (new, non-hard shell seats). I've settled on Cathay from JFK to HKG, and then later I'm going to fly HKG to SIN using my KrisFlyer miles to upgrade. Thank you everyone, and sorry again for the double-post.

If you are comparing economy class, then definitely SQ is better.

Short-haul
- SQ provides a menu
- SQ provides hot towels when boarding
- CX is a bit better in IFE choices
- service: similar

Long-haul
- SQ provides amenity kits
- SQ provides hot towels before meals
- CX is a bit better in IFE choices
- CX has VERY limited in-flight snacks (just peanuts+apple+chocolate vs SQ provides sandwiches, chips as well)
- service: similar

Anyway, you have had your final decision staying on CX. Good luck and hope you enjoy the flight.

CX has better IFE choices if you are flying with their new 777 Y seats, with their old 747s you get the very primitive IFE.

Their hard shell seats on 747 is not something I want to experience again.

CX had sandwiches + cup noodles on long haul flights.

How about drinks (and I don't mean soft drinks), how do they compare?

Just asking as SQ Y is better than LH C in this regard.

Not my experience but, they are both really decent. UA however is a flying dehydration experiment devised by Dr. Menegelsque minds ...
