Anyone know what the seats are like on SG to Haneda J class on the refitted 777-200? SQ page mentions gentle 8 deg recline, which I don't think is worth being able to fly direct to Haneda for, as I can get J on A380 to Narita for the same price!

Unless in exceptional circumstances, such as aircraft going out of service, to HND they use the new regional J. Angled lie flat, but it does not quite go fully flat. Comparable to many airlines standard business class angled lie flat products, and fine for a 7 hr flight.

Hm. Its funny that on the SIN-AMS sector where the new Business Class seat is supposed to be on the 772ER, on some days it is actually showing up as a 2 class J/Y 77W aircraft and we know that that aircraft does not exist with that configuration!

Unless... its selling a 3 class aircraft as 2 class !

They tended to allocate the F cabin to the J pax in those situations, if I recall correctly. I remember the seatmap showing Row 1 and 2 open for J ticket for those flights.

OK thanks mate, so it's not the old spacebed style cabin that used to be on SG to AMS in 2009? I've flown to Shanghai Biz in 2010 and the cabin was similar to the A380 in style but 2-2-2. If this is the one to Haneda then I am ok with that, as it's pretty awesome!

Yes should be similar to that, unless something bad happens with the plane and it gets swapped out at last minute. Before booking, just double check seat map via SQ website and make sure it is not 2-3-2!

I have an aeroplan award via CPH in J booked for late fall 2013. If they refit the plane prior to departure, is it possible for SQ to revoke the ticket? Typically, they don't release new product in J to partners...

What are the chances they'll refit the plane prior to Dec?

I'd put your odds of getting the new product by Dec pretty good, and they will not revoke the ticket.

Any guesses on whether or not CPT-JNB-SIN will have the new cabin by end of September 2013?

Just an update...my CPT-JNB-SIN flight at the end of Sept is showing the new 1-2-1 configuration on both EF and the SQ mobile site. Hopefully this sticks and is good news for other traveling on routes scheduled to get the refit.

So... Just checked in for 323 AMS-SIN this morning and its overbooked, they're offering a flight to Frankfurt and change then fly first class Lufthansa to changi getting in a couple of hours later.. Had to say thanks but no thanks as I have a breakfast appointment with my kids after 2 months away.. The check in staff said they can't keep up with the changing metal on the route.. Happy days..

I just booked my in-laws on a mixed UA F award IAD-FCO-SIN January 30-31, 2014. IAD-FCO is UA global F and FCO-SIN is SQ J (and ual.com called it a two-class flight). On the SQ site it currently shows a 2-2-2 J configuration. Thoughts on what they will actually fly 10 months from now?

The only pure J awards required a 3rd flight/2nd connection or a NRT-HND overnight transfer. Only other F award was NH J to NRT then F to SIN. So the IAD-FCO-SIN routing was their best option even if they don't get the new SQ J. But hoping they get lucky!
