Probably because the original seat numbering of the A380 (no PY, with a small Y cabin in the upper deck) had Y numbered from 31 to 83 with rows 31 to 60-something in the lower deck and 71 to 83 in the upper deck. To avoid confusion when they came out with an all J upper deck the additional J rows after the 20s started at row 91.

If travelling total of 3 pax which comprises of myself, wife and 8 year old daughter which seats are best on the 2013 77W and 2017 A380 in business class?
SYD-SIN-SYD route.
Any preference which numbers seat?
I guess I would put wife and daughter in the middle next to each other and I'm on the left window side.
Thanks,
K.

Was on new A380 last week LHR - SIN.
Cabin crew managed to find an empty seat in Business Class for me to try. It was almost full in J, only 2 empty seats left.
The seat was hard on seating position. It was not as wide as the old J seat, but still wide enough for most passenger. I found the old one a bit too wide. It was easy to transform seating position into sleeping bed. The hardness of the seat gave a good support when sleeping.
To me I quite like the new J.

For those who have sat in row 96 on the old A380's J, does sitting in the last row mean that you get off the plane last (relative to the other J pax)? Or are there exit doors in the middle that mean that you wouldn't have to wait till everyone else in J gets off? Thanks!

You can call up SQ to see if they will release. However if a baby does require they will advise your seat needs changing, usually a new seat is assigned via email.
