New Medium Haul J Seat -vs- Spacebed

Hi all,

Some long haul flights such as Auckland/ Istanbul/ Athens use B772-ER, which equips with old Spacebed.

But how does it compare to so called "Medium-Haul New Biz Seat"? http://www.singaporeair.com/en_UK/fl...haul-business/ For me, it looks like the Medium-Haul seat is more comfortable than the old Spacebed...

How do you experts rank for these two types of seats when it comes to something like 12hours flight time?

(I have a flight to Istanbul early Nov, hoping to get some good sleep on the old Spacebed..!:p)

Cheers!

I find the new regional quite comfy. For one thing, they are noticeably wider than the old space-beds and appear more ergonomically designed.

Granted, I've never tried it beyond 4 hour day-time flights so take that FWIW.

There is certainly a "novelty" factor for these new regional seats and they are wider than the space beds.

But I find the space bed to be not anyway worse off than the new regional seats actually. Both seats serve their proposes.

I've always liked the spacebed and overall prefer it to anything SIA offers including new C on the A380 and 77W. If they had come up with a fully flat version of it, it would IMO have been an absolute winner.

Just flew MNL-SIN and SIN-AKL so got to compare ... My vote is the new seat. Wider. Slightly less firm and has a nice mid-recline position for movie-watching. BTW I like the rear J cabin in the 772ER: little bit quieter. Had the back row (19) to myself yesterday.

Thanks for all for your input. I seems the Old Spacebed isn't too bad. Hopefull can have a good sleep on this 11hours flight. :)

New Regional J lie flats aren't any worse than the Spacebeds. Newer (duh) and slightly wider. I'd say they are pretty much good to sleep in already. I'm not too fussy.

I had new regional J on SIN-FUK and it is definitely better than the Spacebed. however, that having been said the Spacebed seat is still comfortable even on a long haul flight as long as you don't have issues with the slight slope (which applies to both seats).

have only tried the new regional J twice and find that there are larger gaps for small objects to drop into - hence mental note to empty pockets and store away stuff

agree with previous post that spacebeds have some advantages over the new long haul J seats ie size has its drawbacks but overall the extra space is appreciated
