Award travel on SQ21/22?

I'm trying to book this round trip using Continental miles which is a Star Alliance partner of SQ.

Does anyone have experience successfully booking miles for this RT, and if so any pointers on how to make it work?

Thanks,

SQ 21/22 are operated by the all-Business class aircraft, the A340-500. These flights' award seats may only be redeemed using SQ's own FFP, Krisflyer miles. Thus you will not be able to use CO miles to redeem on these flights.

Even if you want to redeem them on Krisflyer miles, these flights need more miles than usual...

A oneway award from EWR to SIN on the A345 alone, will cost you 381,000 miles. That's ONEWAY !

Can't you book SQ21/22 on a standard award? So wouldn't it be 135000 miles oneway?

Yes. But availability difficult.

I got NRT-SIN-TPE-NRT on C from Aeroplan. This route is 30000 miles award.
NRT-SIN:SQ11 388
SIN-TPE:SQ880 333
TPE-NRT:NH1084 763

If you got it, great...

But generally award space on A388 is not available to any other carriers other than Krisflyer.

I just booked SIN-EWR on SQ22 and IAH-SIN on SQ61 in business using Lufthansa points - 135,000.

So it is possible

How far out did you book it? I notice using KF miles maybe a few days out.

Post Christmas to EWR, Mid Jan back from Houston.

Got Exactly the dates I wanted.

I have 3 tickets using Krisflyer as standard awards and 1 using Lufthansa points, so 4 FF tickets on these flights.

I have two standard F awards In a few weeks using KF miles JFK-SIN-DPS (the return still on saver award waitlist). It makes more sense now that most of your awards are standard rather than saver.

Only the Krisflyer award is standard - the Lufthansa award has booked into I, for the flights and only cost 135,000 points for a A345 flight and the return B777-300ER flight.

I only added the details about the Krisflyer flight as I booked those first (which book into D) and then got a return ticket on the Next Gen Business Seat for a 135000 total.

being able to book business or first seats on A388, 345 and 77W is interesting...... they usually only release such seats for promotional purposes only

There has been no change to policy here...a few folk have got lucky with the recent equipment swaps and for the others, those seats have always been available thru KF and M&M
