This thread seems to be a little inactive now... let’s see if I can inject a little quick KF miles grab excitement!
If you currently live in Singapore, have never owned a KF AMEX card (the blue one) and interested to earn a whopping 14,100 KF miles for just SGD 1,000 spend on a free card (14.1 MPD baby!) - send me a PM for special referral! It’s a far more generous offer than what you can get from the public AMEX website. |
Carrot, nice find there. How good is the card though after the initial bonus? A keeper or straight in the desk drawer until cancellation time? :)

For those who are NTB can get $200 cash back when applying for a DBS credit card at the moment using promo code FLASH200 . I just submitted my application for a Woman's World Card.

But now I realise Amex still gives miles where other cards have stopped (eg. charity donations) and they regularly have interesting rebate promotions (eg. $10 rebate for $20 spending at new merchants that started accepting Amex, $2 rebate for $10 spending using contactless, $1 off for up to 5 spendings using Amex QR typically small value items at hawker centres) so I’ve been using them occasionally when it suits. |

Sure, it used to be more useful when you could just top-up a prepaid Fevo card for max points and then spend away locally using that card. But it's still great for those internet purchases and I'll hold on to mine for as long as those annual fee waivers keep coming through. |

But DBS can be sneaky - for example, they removed points earning on recurring payments without expressly notifying cardholders. |
I noticed that even with the debit card. First it was 5% rebate on all contactless... then 3%... now it's up to 3%, but local contactless is actually 1%.
For a while I actually liked the quick 5% more than any miles-generating card, but now it seems it's time to leave the debit card in the drawer so to speak. Although quite a few banks now have enticing miles offers, I still feel that you have pretty much all bases covered if you stick to the DBS+UOB+Citi trio. Plus I'm quite impressed with the new multicurrency cards (accounts) that have popped up in recent years, allowing you to save on currency conversions done by Visa/MC (not to mention the bank's surcharge on conversions) and make purchases without even being charged these additional, silly surcharges (like foreign transaction fee even though you are billed in your local currency). Again, you really need to do some number crunching to see if it's worth whipping out a miles-generating card for those, knowing that the fees will mount up. |
