Credit Cards for Air Miles

The DBS Woman's World MasterCard Card also awards 10X DBS Points for purchases online which translates to 4 miles per $1 spent

Similarly,
The UOB Visa Signature Card awards 10X UNI$ which translates to 4 miles per $1 spent on overseas, petrol spend, online spending (in foreign currencies only) and Visa payWave with minimum spend of $1,000 per statement period and maximum $2,000 per statement period.

Credit Cards Air Miles Redemption Rates

The banks have been increasing the minimum blocks required to change for air miles for the past few years. Credit Cards Air Miles
Redemption Rates
could be useful for you to check out the redemption rates and their minimum block for each bank.

No issue with DBS Woman's cause any online transaction is 10x eligible. FYI, I charge all my online spending to DBS Woman's.

TQ for your response.

Looks like I have to use my DBS Women's Card for my Paypal transactions and be limited to the $2k a month. :(

Just another 2 questions:

1. Anyone has any idea which other card offers more points on Paypal txns?

2. I wanted to keep track of my UNI$ but UOB said they don't give a detailed statement. Do you guys find it online or do you manually maintain a record?

Thanks!

Qn. 1 - How about PPV. I believe PPV offers 4 miles per S$1 spent for all online transactions.

Interested to know question 2 as well. I usually just do a manual count at the end of the month to check if it tallys. If the UNI$ awarded is higher than what I counted, then I wouldn't question. :P

I remember reading here that someone called the Customer Service hotline to keep track of the UNI$ by transaction.

Unfortunately for PPV, travel related transactions (hotels/air tickets/tour packages, etc) do not earn 10x points. You can check the exclusion list from their website.

I keep track of all my points via a spreadsheet.

If UOB is making strict checks on awarding points for Paypal transactions, I have a feeling they will not give me the bonus Uni$. Therefore, I have to find alternatives which would be the DBS Women's Card and maybe (uncharted waters) the CB Rewards Card.

I run my own business and sometimes receive cash payments. Am trying to pay my company's Paypal account with my cc and earn miles. Even with the Paypal surcharge, the amount of potential miles is way worth the deal.

Yes, that is what I am doing for now. Just hoping there will be an easier way. AMEX normally lists down the places where 10 + 10 times etc are earned. It is just so much more transparent. Of course, if UOB is trying to pull a fast one on cardmembers, there is no way they will do that for us. :(

Thanks for both your replies.

Sorry, just checked again and Paypal I think would qualify under "online money transfers" which is in their exclusion list.

Haven't gone down this path before so am just trying it out. We use Paypal for some txns as well so we might as well give it a shot. Seems Paypal does tell the banks what the cc txns are for. Was hoping it will just show up as a Paypal txn on the cc statement. After all, Paypal alr made their txn fee off us so why would they bother right? Technically my company can create a Paypal invoice and charge it to me. Anyway, I will try UOB PPV and DBS women's and see if there's any luck.

Doesn't that end by today - Mar 31, 2014?

I chose the Premiermiles Amex (works for me, may not for others) and never actually bothered about the gift or so as only the first year fee waiver was key to me. Applied online and then got call back the next day to validate. CPF submitted online and even though I have been a Citibank customer for the better part of 10 years I still needed to supply a copy of my NRIC even though all the latest info is on file. Oh well.

Anyways, they also tried to get me to sign up for the Visa version as well as asked if I need ready credit. Declined both and no issue, but they also never mentioned the gift part. Now waiting for the card to arrive in the mail.

It's confirmed DBS Woman's World MC have no issue in getting 10x points for online spend. As mentioned before, I charge all my online transactions (anything that is done online regardless in SGD or FCY) to it.

Do note DBS requires FFP mileage transfer in blocks of 10k DBS points (to KF or AsiaMiles). There's also a S$2k limit per calendar month.

I have been earning the 4 miles for my paypal transactions when buying my health supplements.

Has something changed?

Thanks. That's great news. Will work the sums so the DBS Paypal payments are just 2k a month and direct all other cash payments elsewhere if UOB PPV is going to be sticky. Might even make DH apply for the DBS Women's card to utilize this more. Now waiting for my UOB statement to see if they allow the txn.

Also, if anyone knows any other cc that gives bonus points on Paypal txns, pls weigh in. TIA.

Paypal is a payment gateway for online purchases, doesn't necessary has to be money transfer.

On bank statement usually paypal also states the company you are purchasing from, so UOB removes those travel related charges from there

Excellent. Looks like I have to give that a go. :)
