Two to three business weeks for a refund?
I purchased an early-bird special to Europe last year directly from the Singapore Airlines website.

Due to a change of plans I have requested to refund the ticket but didn't see the refund on my credit card after 48 hours.

So I called up 13 10 11 and was told that it takes 2-3 business weeks for a refund.

How can it take that long?

Common practice with many airlines (including QF). It is deliberate and done partly to reduce the amount of speculative bookings that would otherwise be made.

Once, it took me almost six months to receive refund on a BA refundable business class ticket.

Once it took me 7 months to get a refund from MH. With SQ it only took 2 months.
