Checking availability

Hi guys,

I only ever seem to post stupid questions, and in line with that trend:

How can I check availability on my upcoming SQ flights? Expert Flyer doesn't give info for Y - I just want to see what the loads are like. This time last year almost everyone had empty seats next to them on the flights and I'm hoping (note, not expecting/demanding etc) that this will be the case this year.

Any help most gratefully received :)

Did you purchase your ticket on-line? Then you can go to your itinerary, and check the seat map for available seats.
I have a somehow similar situation, and I was very happy to see the empty middle seats....

I know, I know this is not a scientific method, but so far it has worked for me everytime on SQ. Definitely gives a general view.... (Full, half-full etc.)

Hi pirossalma, thanks for your reply. Yep, I did buy online and can see the seat map but I wasn't sure if that showed only people who had pre-selected seats, or whether it showed the full load. Do you know which it is?

Thanks for your response pirossalma. I can see the online seat map from SQ but I'm not sure if that just reflects people who have pre-selected seats, or whether it's the whole load. Do you know which it is?

It shows seats which are pre-assigned. Seatmap is a very poor indicator of load.

There is no good way to know other than calling SQ, and they most likely will not tell you. The reservation agents can see load, but the policy is not to disclose it. You can guess by checking available fare buckets on EF. The load may be relatively light if low fare buckets, such as Q/N/V, are available. This is not a reliable indicator as I have seen flights with 9 across went out close to full.

Secrets

It;s called opacity. They don't want you to know and would rather fly empty than allow you to know. Fun business?

Thanks guys, and sorry for the double post above - my PC is being silly and I thought the first post had disappeared into cyber space.

Looks like I'll just have to wait and see, which is fine. It's all luck of the draw in this business!
