Let's Eat! - 2006 First Class (Domestic and International) Edition
Once again it's a new year and time for a new thread on UA meal service in premium cabins, since no self-respecting FTer would ever be caught in international or p.s. economy.
General consensus was that folks preferred a seperate thread for each cabin, to make it easier to search. So this one if for Domestic and International First Class meals.
The one for Domestic and International Business Class meals can be found at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=509459
So with that, "Let's Eat!"

Let's start out with a reminder of mealtimes (for reference). This should really be part of a sticky...
Generally speaking, flights with food can be broken down into these types:
1) P.S. flights
2) Mainline & Business1 flights over 2.5 hours
3) Business1 flights under 2.5 hours
1) P.S. flights: F-Cabin can expect a delicious meal to be served for all non-redeye flights. Redeye flights can expect a fruit & cheese plate.
2) Mainline & Business 1 flights over 2.5 hours: F-Cabin can expect meals according to the following scheduled flight departure times.
0500 - 1000 Breakfast
1001 - 1059 No Meal Service
1100 - 1300 Lunch
1301 - 1559 No Meal Service
1600 - 1900 Dinner
1901 - 0459 No Meal Service
3) Business1 flights under 2.5 hours
0500 - 1000 Continential style "semi-hot" breakfast (ie ham & cheese)
1001 - 1059 No Meal Service
1100 - 1300 Snack Plate lunch (ie hot wrap or salad).
1301 - 1559 No Meal Service
1600 - 1900 Snack Plate dinner (ie hot wrap or salad).
1901 - 0459 No Meal Service
Note, no meal is served on the following Business1 flights:
ORD-MSP
MSP-ORD
These flights will be served the "gold bag" of pre-packaged mixed nuts.
NOTE: It seems as though UA's policy about Business1 flights and meals have changed. Meals are only provided during the same times as regular Mainline flights.
So, what do you get on the other types of flights?
Mainline (non PS, non Business1) flights under 2.5 hours in length will receive the "gold bag" of pre-packaged mixed nuts.
For non-mainline F-Cabin over 2 hours length you should get a prepackaged "light" snack. This is usually a United Express SnackBox which varies based on the flight's operator.
Of course to be 100% sure, you will want to call UA reservations and ask.
I've tried to search through the 2005 Let's Eat posting and various other postings to try to get these times correct. PM any corrections and I'll edit this.
I will also update this list periodically based on posts to this topic.
(Thanks to lucky9876coins, Pat89339 for the corrections).
FYI, for those whose upgrades were not confirmed.
http://www.united.com/page/article/0,6722,51501,00.html
IMPORTANT NOTES!
Some have reported that the fruit and cheese plate can be avoided by placing an order for a special meal. Good results have been posted regarding the "Low Fat" meal.
It seems that the Fruit and Cheese plate has been eliminated from post 1900 Business1 and Mainline flights.

What am I likely to have for dinner BOS - SFO F later this month? Sure would be nice if they brought p.s. service to BOS transcon routes.

I will be on YVR-ORD on a A319 in F. That will be my longest North America flight so far (4hrs). Is that one defined as an "domestic F class flight" or is it already an international flight since going from Canada to the US?
If it is an international flight, will I receive even a better choice of food on that flight?

I think you'll find the cuisine to be entirely domestic F class.
Best of luck...

United Flight 47 SFO-OGG January 1 First Class 767:
Apetizer:
Field greens with a couple of pieces of fruit with choice of Vinagrette or Ranch dressing - The ranch was very creamy and tasy
Entree:
Chicken or Pecan encrusted Mahi Mahi with broccoli and rice - The fish was very good by airline standards, rice was tasty, brocolli was mush
Dessert:
Ice Cream Sundae Cart - 1/2 vanilla, 1/2 coffee flavored ice cream and I had the FA pour Baileys and Hot Fudge all over it
Yummy food overall - much better than the I had last year flying LAX-KOA-SFO on the 757. I will post the menu from United 36 January 7 KOA-SFO on a 767 next week.
Cheers!

I was on DFW/SFO at 0750PM last month and only had (fruit and cheese plate) I wish UA buy fresh fruit on this route at least. 1K desk told us it was going to be a dinner flight in F.

decent brekkers BOS-LAX flt 163 today
Fruit appetizer (excellent); "egg omelette" plate consisting of an
empty but decent omelet, tomato sauce, sausages, hash browns,
spinach timbale. Or the deadly fruit plate - same fruit appetizer
but double size, some kind of cereal, some kind of milk, some kind
of yogurt.
Croissants, Danish, bagels.

Warm nuts and cocktails to begin
Dinner options:
1. Roasted chicken fajita wrap, straight from the fresh food buy-on-board Economy menu: "Slices of marinated chicken breast and pepper jack cheese, topped with a caramelized fajita pepper mixture with roasted corn, on a tortilla wrap spread with cilantro cream cheese." Served with a side of hot salsa and a warm roll.
2. Oriental chicken salad, also straight from the fresh food buy-on-board Economy menu: "Crisp romaine lettuce with grilled Oriental flavored chicken, topped with snow peas, water chestnuts, mandarin oranges, sliced almonds and sesame seeds. Served with an Asian Sesame Ginger dressing." Served with a warm roll.
No fresh fruit side dish or side salad with either offering.
Prior to landing: Chocolate chip cookies.
No hot towels, although I spotted them in the galley during boarding. Lazy crew?

Lousy brekkers on 526 today
Ok, it's a shorthaul, but today it was a sat-on croissant sandwich
and essentially identical to what UAL_Rulez reports from another
Biz 1 flight, except it wasn't hot.
