RTW ticket, longest routings ?? [On 20 segment rules]

Here is a challenge for you all. Am thinking of buying another OW RTW fare to clock up some miles and status but want to make the most of the available segments. Has anyone done this before (who am I kidding, someone must have) and what was the routing ex. Australia ?
I was thinking something along the lines of below but it still only uses 24 of the 30 segments available. Anyone got any better suggestions ??

Your best bet is to take a look over at the oneworld forum to get advice on RTW routing, they'll be best placed to assist you. The biggest issue you'll face first is a maximum of 20 segments allowed in total on any oneworld RTW ticket (even if the various continents have a higher total if added up, the maximum allowed is 20).

Also, if you want to go through Fiji, the only way you can do that is on the Global Explorer, which has a maximum of 39,000 miles in economy, or 34,000 miles in Business or First. You won't be able to do it on the continent based oneworld Explorer.

Max segments is now 20 (since 14 April 2003)
Much better to ask your question on the OneWorld forum

Couple of points.

1. Isn't the OWE now limited to 20 segments?
2. I think you have too many segments in Europe, North America, and Australia. You're limited to 4 segments in each continent except for NA, which you get 6. Your intercontinental segments do not count toward the 4/6 in each continent.
3. It would be better for you to do LHR-LAX and JFK-SYD for those intercontinental segments. LHR-LAX is about 5500 miles and JFK-SYD on QF108 is about 10k miles. You must book QF108 in order for it not to count toward your segments in the US.
4. Add a transcon LAX/SFO/SAN/SEA/etc. - JFK/BOS/MIA/IAD/etc.
5. Rather than hopping around europe on shorthauls, do a LHR-DXB return.
6. This thread should probably go in the oneworld forum, as there are far more experienced people than I in there who can scour your itinerary.

Good luck, and most of all, have fun! ^

BronzedAussie, As others have posted, your routing is invalid as a xONEx as it is more than 20 segments. FWIW, your routing 44684 miles.

There is a lot more infomation in the oneWORLD forum.

There is a great One World Validator made available by a very generous FTer; one Jordan Hargrave.

Plug your routing into the Oneworld Explorer Validator secton and click the submit botton:

SYD-HKG-JNB-NBO-LHR-FCO-SXF-BCN-AMS-EDI-LHR-JFK-YQB-MIA-DFW-SEA-SFO-LAX-NAN-AKL-MEL-PER-CNS-BNE-SYD

(Plug it into the Point-to-Point to get total distance.)

Two tips:

1) IF you live in SYD, Start from MEL (use points or a red e-deal to nest a SYD-MEL-SYD around the xONEx). That way you can come back to SYD and have a break before heading to PER/BNE etc.

2) Go LHR-LAX & JFK-"Asia" to maximise distance on your NA transcontinentals.

Here is a DONE4 (WIP) I am planning for later this year and next. (I live in MEL, cheapest realistic purchase place for DONE4 is SriLanka):

cmb-hkg-nrt-MEL-per-MEL-PER-syd-lhr-DXB-lhr-lax-bos-dfw-anc-dfw-mia-jfk-nrt-hkg-cmb

or another way: (for a LONEx)

syd-lhr-DXB-lhr-lax-bos-dfw-anc-dfw-mia-jfk-nrt-hkg-cmb-hkg-nrt-MEL-per-MEL-PER-syd

These are both 62,891 miles and 2060 SC's in D and 535 SC's in L after 25th May.

In addition to the comments above re maximum number of segments, your itinerary includes a number of routes not served by oneworld.

You need to do a bit more research on this board to assist with your planning.

Lightbulb What do you think ?

Ok I've used the one world validator and come up with the following combination which seems to be the most amount of miles (60,322 miles and 135,728 AA miles) that I can squeeze into a DONE4. Anyone have any ideas on whether this can be improved upon and whether any of these routes don't have 3 class planes.

CMB-HKG-NRT-JFK-MIA-YUL-DFW-ANC-ORD-LAX-LHR-DXB-LHR-MEL-CNS-PER-ADL-SYD-NRT-HKG-CMB

KHI-HKG...HKG-KHI adds about 1000 base miles.
Going via SFO instead of LAX adds a few.
LHR-MCT-LHR instead of DXB adds about 400.
Going via AKL is better.

A lot of these routes don't have 3-class planes.

I'm sure this could still be fine-tuned but:
KHI-HKG-NRT-HKG-JFK-SFO-ORD-DFW-ANC-ORD-SFO-LHR-MCT-LHR-SYD-PER-CNS-MEL-AKL-HKG-KHI is 66772 base miles.

I had noticed GB disappearance from this forum - what's the attraction over at this new (?) Cathaytalk site? Functional search?

I have no idea what was behind it but GB left in a blaze of drama a few weeks back. I think he is behind the new site.

We all decided that we preferred a less authoritarian regime. The new moderator on the CX forum was the last straw.

Or for a couple more thou, try (HKG)-JFK-SJU-DFW-ANC-DFW-SJU-LAX-(LHR) instead.
