BA disregarding proper tea etiquette?
Having finally found bliss in getting AA FA to make a proper Sundae - you must pour chocolate all over your nuts to do it right -- I shall now turn my holiday attention to getting BA crew to do a proper tea.
I was flying F LHR-LGW yesterday and was appalled to have milk added *before* my tea. I took a picture to prove it.
Proper tea etiquette requires that one pour the tea into the cup *before* adding the milk (something that used to cause the fine bone Concord china to crack).
The FA was clearly a prole and his manner of tea service beneath contempt. Milk in first or 'MIF' is a sign of ill breeding.

BAEC rules are quite clear about this: Tea then milk.
I have noticed that BA FA's tend to disregard the rule on afternoon tea food placement for a three tier service:
Top Tier (Gold) = Scones
Middle tier (Silver) = Savories and Tea sandwiches
Bottom tier (Blue) =sweets
See also the BA FAQ sticky regarding Pinkie and Napkin Placement,.

She's rather milk-in-first, dear
According to the Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior" -- which I happen to read cover-to-cover after finishing Jane's Passenger Planes on my last non-stop rtw -- Judith Martin indicates that the phrase "She's rather milk-in-first, dear" refers to the fact that nannies and governesses seem to be prone to pouring the milk in before the tea, while all others do the opposite. In her description of serving tea, she says, "[A]sk your guest of honor how she takes it. Using the strainer, pour straight from the pot for strong tea, and dilute it from the kettle for weak. Then add sugar ... and milk, according to her taste."
In Aviation Etiquette Faux Pas and Other Misconceptions it clearly states that it is tea to be followed by milk. Sources in the British Royal Household confirm the information as correct with their comments: "We would not make any amendments to the text" and "What a good book with lots of big pictures."

Coffee, Tea, or Me?
Back in the days when Puccies was the role model for Karen Valentine's starring role as a bigamist FA. Tea cuisine consisted of thin crustless sandwiches spread with butter, fish pates, toasts with jam and scones or crumpets. We added clotted cream in the 80s but as the dairy keeping facilities on the plane were not up to the mark we took them off after several pax developed severe intestinal whatevers. After a flight, even when Puccies feet were swollen round the ankles, the tea dances were not to be missed as a place for the younger generation to 'hang out' and meet new people.

It's Monday, so although it's disagree with dmw day, I go with him on this one. Although the EC is a reasonable FF programme with sometimes shambolic administration, I do love the BA board -- about 10,000+ words worth of love!

You can get real milk? I've been Gold for 3 years and never been offered real milk with my tea?
However, with the help of my new glasses I can see that the T&C's clearly state: "tea before milk." ..and I know because I saw Vladimir Putin taking his tea this way.
