Carriers owned by *A carriers - in *A or not in *A

The question seems to come up regularly on which airlines owned by *A airline is also in *A and which is not. Note this is based on whether flying with these carriers allows status miles on all other *A FFPs, and is not strictly correct in terms of "membership" of *A which may have a certain legal meaning.

recent example

Owned carriers that ARE in *A
Eagle Air, Air Nelson (owned by NZ)
Mount Cook Airlines - scheduled flights only (owned by NZ)
Blue1 (owned by SK) - regional member of *A
Piedmont, PSA (owned by US)
Lauda - scheduled flights under OS code (owned by OS)
Tyrolean aka Austrian Arrows (owned by OS)
Lufthansa Regional - Air Dolomiti, Augsburg Airways, CityLine, Contact Air, Eurowings (owned by LH except Augsburg Airways and Contact Air)
EuroLOT (owned by LO)
Portugalia (owned by TP)

Owned carriers that are NOT in *A
Silk Air (owned by SQ)
Virgin Atlantic (part owned by SQ)
Mount Cook Airlines - scenic flights only (owned by NZ)
Lauda Leisure Line (owned by OS)
Condor (part owned by LH)
JetBlue (part owned by LH)
Luxair (part owned by LH)
Germanwings (owned by LH)
Edelweiss Air (owned by LX)
Skyways, Estonian Airlines, Wideroe (owned by SK)
BMIbaby (owned by BD)
LOT Charters (owned by LO)
SunExpress (owned by LH & TK)
Air Busan (part owned by OZ)

Other oddities with related carriers
Cirrus operates some wetleases for LH and LX - these flights are *A
Cirrus also operates flights on it's own behalf - these flights are not *A

Some of these carriers allow miles (and status miles in some cases) to be earned and/or burned, on selected *A FFPs. See *A FFP Partner Airlines for details.

Please post info on other owned airlines. Thanks to everyone who has contributed. ^ Updated to post #43.

Do you mean owned 100% by the * airline? If not SK owns parts of JZ,OV,BT and WF. SK also owns more then 75% of JK but they are already in *.

Anything that is owned enough to create potential confusion whether the carrier is/isnt in *A.

Sorry I am not so good on airline codes other than the majors - can you please post the names? I think I could guess some of them but likely to have errors.

SQ owns around 49% (maybe 51%) of Virgin Atlantic and they are not *A, however you can eran redemable miles with the BMI DC club (they dont cound for *A status thou)

Just when planning for our next RTW was starting to come together, I've discovered another kink in the hosepipe. Previously, SK and their wholly-owned KF both operated on the TMP-ARN and TMP-CPH routes, with all flights code-shared. Now that KF is a *A 'regional member' in its own right, (a) the code shares have been abandoned, (b) SK metal doesn't come here any more and (c) KF flights are not eligible for *A RTWs!!!

Anybody know if/when the regional members will be added to the RTW system? Are the regional members really in *A or are they not?!?

cheers,

Henry

Whatever gave you that idea? KF has been permitted on :-: RTW's since the 20DEC04 rules release. All 3 baby Star's are now permitted on RTW's - the classes to book for JP and OU were advised in the 07JAN05 rules release.
All 3 are :-: standard : Book D for Biz, book M for the Y cabin on a Star 1/2/3 and book H for Starlite.
Cheers.
