Help with mileage run please...I am 484 points short of MVPG by 4/13 deadline!
Hi everyone,
I am a newbie to this mileage run stuff and could use some help from all you seasoned Alaska Airlines travelers.
I will be 484 points short of hitting the 10k miles to regain my MVPG status by the 4/13 deadline. I currently have these trips booked and need help on perhaps adding a leg onto one of these flights to hit the 10k mark without having to pay too much for the extra segment.
4/6 SEA to LAS flight 676 @12:05pm (866 miles)
4/9 LAS to SEA flight 629 @7:05am (866 miles)
4/9 SEA to JFK flight 26 @ 11:35pm (2414 miles)
With these flights, I total up to 9,516 miles for the year making me 484 miles short of hitting the fast track promo to regain MVPG status.
(I do have a flight booked home to Seattle on 4/15 and I don't want to change it to come back on 4/13 and cut my kids' spring break trip to NYC 2 days short.)
Are there any pros out there that have any tips on which flights to hit the extra 484 miles? I prefer to add the extra leg to the 4/6 travel day if possible since I'm already flying back to Seattle Easter morning to be with my kids and then taking a red eye out with them that same night.
Thanks in advance!!

4/6 SEA to PDX (500 miles) and then 4/6 PDX to LAS (762 miles), that gave me a total of 1262 total for that leg which is only 396 miles more than my direct SEA to LAS flight that was 866 miles.
I need to add a minimum of 484 miles total and that extra 396 miles added doesn't push me to the 10k mark.

I would try to change your 4/6 SEA-LAS nonstop to add a couple stops on your way down to Vegas.
SEA-SFO-LAX-LAS
SEA-BOI-LAX-LAS
SEA-PDX-SFO-LAS
etc.
That should get you the extra 484 miles you need.
On the AS website, when you go to change your 4/6 flight, it should spit out some additional flight options with stops and show the difference in price, which may cost a bit more than your current ticket.

I thought so too, but the numbers didn't work out that way. When I added a PDX leg, I was still short miles. For example,
4/6 SEA to PDX (500 miles) and then 4/6 PDX to LAS (762 miles), that gave me a total of 1262 total for that leg which is only 396 miles more than my direct SEA to LAS flight that was 866 miles.

I have a very simple solution that does not even require you to fly additional segments. Either change both Vegas outbound and return to First class (D fare is sufficient), OR change your JFK trip to First class (D). The 150% bonus EQMs will put you over the threshold.

Wow, that is surprising to me. I could have sworn the one challenge I was apart of years ago included CoS bonus. I’m glad you said something, I would have felt bad for misleading the OP.

No worries at all, I would have double checked with Alaska to make sure that was the case before I switched things. Thanks so much for trying to help, I really appreciate everyone taking the time to try and assist me!

Your best bet is probably routing one end of the SEA>LAS through LAX or SAN. PDX won't work as you'll get the minimum but lose enough distance to come up just short (looks like this is what you already figured). My brain is too tired to figure out if the bay area would work but that might be an option. LAX or SAN are usually pretty cheap. You could also look into a SEA>SoCal>Bay Area then grab a Southwest (WN) flight over to Vegas. I've used AS to get me to the west coast and then grabbed a cheap WN flight into a Vegas a few times as they often have a lot more flights in/out than AS.
