The previous thread is here: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...20-2022-a.html

In April 2020 Chase criteria for approving BUSINESS card applications became more stringent. All Chase INK products are business cards. Chase also issues co-branded business cards for United Airlines (2 different biz cards), Southwest Airlines (2 different biz cards), Hyatt and IHG.

Chase business cards are subject to the 5/24 restriction. Approval of a Chase business application has not increased the N/24 count, but there are a few reports in the 4th quarter of 2022 that this may have changed. Review THIS thread. There will always be some uncertainty, because 5/24 is an unpublished rule which Chase can modify without notice or explanation.

For general information about applying for Chase cards, including explanation of the unpublished 5/24 rule, please review the Wikipost of the PERSONAL card thread: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/chas...ds-2023-a.html

Anyone can apply for a business card as a sole proprietor. If your business has a registered company name, which Chase can verify, you may use the name to apply. Otherwise, use your legal First and Last name as the business name. Do not add any extra words, do not use a made up name. If Chase cannot verify the name the application will fail.

Useful Chase telephone numbers
(888) 269-8690 - Business Credit Card Application Status Line, automated
(800) 453-9719 – Business Credit Card Reconsideration Line with live rep
(800) 453-9719 – Credit Reallocation Office (Business cards)
(888) 622-7547 – Executive Offices

Twitter: @ChaseSupport

Note: The automated Status Line often shows no record of business card applications. This does NOT mean that there is a problem with your application. You will need to contact Chase to learn the status, or wait for Chase to contact you.

You can use a single Username on chase.com to manage both Business and Personal card accounts, but you will initially need to set them up separately, and then telephonically ask customer service to combine them by merging the Personal account into the Business account. It cannot be done the other way. Once personal account is merged to business account, if all business cards are closed while keeping one (or more) personal cards open, online access to all cards will terminate and a new personal (online) account will need to be created using a different username than previous personal account.

Update: It is possible now to link Business and Personal accounts online. First set them up separately, then log into the Business account and follow this click path: Icon at the top right that looks like a person -> Profile & Settings -> Account Settings -> Manage Linked Accounts. Then look for the "Link relationship" option for the personal accounts. For more information on linking accounts: How to link Chase personal and business accounts?

I was just instantly approved for the Ink Cash Business credit card, due to arrive in 3-5 business days. As I was patting myself on the back I suddenly recalled that I locked my experian credit file some months ago as an added security precaution.

Sure enough an email from Experian came in two minutes after my Chase approval e mail, stating that Chase’ enquiry had been blocked.
A brief search on google tells me that Chase’ “go to” credit agency is Experian. All this leaves me a tad perplexed as to how I got my instant approval. I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this “mystery”.
Thanks as always for any info.

Edit: My credit file has never been locked at Equifax or TransUnion, is it possible the Chase computer simply ignored the Experian rejection of its enquiry and went on to the other two bureaus for a succeful pull of my credit?

What's your history with Chase? We know they like to gather their own data on their customers before considering them for the Sapphire line. That leads me to assume that they place greater emphasis on the data they have gathered on you vs the data others have gathered on you. Data with full transparency, visibility, traceability, etc. (their data on you) is superior to a single number (credit score) generated by a third party. Your edit is probably right too, why would they limit themselves to a single credit agency for risk management purposes? More data is always better for determining risk.

blindeye, thank you for that interesting insight.
Schnit I applied while visiting Hawaii, but I am a resident of Washington State and according to the list you provided Chase would be looking at Equifax and Trans Union in addition to Experian for my history, so great info thank you .

EDIT:
Just to fully answer blindeye0, I have a deep credit history with Chase going back about 18 years probably 20/25 cards, opened a checking and saving acct with them 3 years ago. Been rejected a few times (too many cards/broke the 5/24)

Regardless of your history with Chase -- whatever that means -- the bank will not approve a credit card without pulling your credit report. So, yes, your edit is undoubtedly correct.

HI all,
For the CIC and CIU cards, if I already hold both and applied from them with just my SSN (no EIN), my understanding is that I can apply for a second one of either or both again and not have to cancel my originals. Is this accurate? Or is this only accurate if I apply for the second one with EIN? Or... would it be recommended to cancel one and then reapply?

Thanks!

You can have more than one CIC and CIU even if you are using SSN for both, but it might be risky. I have done it in the past multiple times by modifying both the business name and the name that will appear on the card (the easiest way, assuming the business is your own name, is to have a different variation of middle name for both cards).

For example: for CIU1, business name is "JOHN SMITH" and name on card is "JOHN SMITH," but for CIU2, business name is "JOHN A SMITH" and name on card is "JOHN A SMITH."

Would be very interested to see data points from others on this.

Thank you for your input! I would be happy to provide an additional data point, but I unfortunately don't have anything to use for the middle name portion and based on what you mentioned, it is probably safer for me to cancel one and then reapply. I wouldn't want to add any unnecessary scrutiny.

Another question, is there a suggested/recommended "cool down period" for when to reapply after cancelling?

I'm not sure re: cooldown period. I've always had at least several months in between closing a card and reapplying for the same card (maybe over a year), but I've never researched this.

Hello, im looking at the Ink Business Unlimited® credit card, I need two cards in total, each for a separate business (each has its on Tax ID/EIN, reseller Certificate, these are legit biz). Will I be able to get the $900 worth of bonus cash back for each card or will they limit me to getting the cash back only once?
Thx!

Sharing my experience applying for the SW Business Performance Visa, which resulted in an initial denial followed by approval upon recon. I had applied for a SW Personal Priority on 12/5/22 and was instantly approved. In addition, I have 4 other personal Chase cards open (Freedom from 2012, Freedom Unlimited from 2014, a 2nd Freedom from 2016, and Sapphire Preferred from 2021). I have a Chase Ink Cash opened in January 2021. I’ve had several other personal and business Chase cards opened and closed along the way since 2011.

After submitting the application for the SW Biz card on 1/7/22, the response was “We need to review your request a little longer. We will let you know of our decision as soon as possible.” I immediately called the phone status line and got the 7-10 day message. A few hours later, I received an email from Chase telling me to read the letter they posted in my online Chase account. It was a denial letter stating “You have too many active accounts or too much available credit” as the only reason.

I called the business recon line today, initially spoke to a CSR who restated the reason for denial. I asked to speak with a credit analyst for reconsideration, and he transferred me to a business lending specialist. The specialist was friendly and asked me to tell him about my business, asked about my business expenses (told him $3000 last month but average around $500-1000 per month), asked how my revenue was year-over-year (good: six-figure revenue doubled in 2022, expect to level off in 2023). Looking over my account he noted that I don't have any checking/savings with Chase (I did a few years ago but since closed). He put me on hold to finish reviewing and came back and said he was recommending a $5000 credit line and would submit it to the system. After a few moments it came back approved, whew!

I wish I had thought to ask him if he had more insight into my original denial. Still not sure if it’s the number of active accounts and available credit with Chase only, or across all issuers. I had reduced the credit line on my newest card by $7,900 the day before the application, to make sure I had room in Chase’s limit for me, so unless their system didn’t yet recognize the reduction then there should have been enough room for what they historically are willing to extend to me. The other unusual thing is Chase closed my Ink Unlimited due to inactivity in 2022; I wondered if that could have been a mark against me.

The general rule of thumb is 90 days between cards. This is not set, and can be different. But about 4 per year max is recommended.

If you're approved for a Chase card, you qualify for the SUB. I have never seen it otherwise.

If you are approved you will get the SUB. I have received the SUB on the same Ink card for different businesses within 24 months.

There's no need to change any info on the application. Just apply for a second Ink as you did the first. It's fine.

While this is true of the card in question, there ARE Chase cards where you can be approved without the bonus. So tread carefully.

Thank you for your response! I may have mis-worded my question. I wasn't necessarily asking a velocity question, but more so of if after I've cancelled the card (and I haven't applied for a business card from Chase in a while [more than 90 days]), when would it be appropriate to reapply? Does the 90 days still apply after the cancellation?
