Free Wifi due to Covid...?

Flying PHX-OGG today (Upgraded for free as EXP) and I just logged onto the ViaSat Wifi and it cost $0.

Is this something temporary due to Covid?

I did not have this last week on a 737. Would love to hear the details on when/where this applies.

At least give me free messaging (for ALL messaging apps, not just Facebook) and I'd be satisfied.

Actually, it’s an A321neo. They do have free wifi.

Perhaps the only advantage of flying a A321neo to Hawaii
I look forward to this next Saturday going LAX-OGG and on my return trip from HNL-LAX.
Unfortunately things I wanted to do in the LA area are still closed.

Isn't the internet access on the 321neo different than that on the 737?
My first guess is AA got a special rate for the 321neo ISP

I got several GOGO wifi passes from credit cards but unable to use them on AA mostly as many flights are provided by panasonic.

I flew the NEO R/T to HNL last month.

Internet stopped working in both directions as soon as we were over water.

Why is Wi-Fi free on this aircraft?

I recently started traveling again and have had a lot of problems with the new wifi portal. Gogo went from being slow to completely unusable.

I was lucky to get go go yesterday on a 175 msp-dfw that had 1 hour free to t-mobile users.

Are all 175's flown by Envoy?

Does your Tmo plan not include this? Many do. Mine is actually unlimited, not just 1 hour (perhaps because I am on a business account?)

I flew PHX-ANC-PHX on the A321neo in July 2019. WiFi was free and working both ways. I still don't know why it worked, and since it functioned on both legs, I'm unsure if it was accidental.

I don't have T-Mobile, but in theory I suppose I could just type in my friend's phone number who does have T-Mo every time I am on a GoGo flight....
