MQM Rollover & Diamond
I have 93k rollover MQM's in 2021 but will spend no where near $250k on my credit card.
Am I right in thinking that if I earn another 32,000 MQM miles I'll hit the 125,000 Diamond level but won't become a Diamond and next year will get zero for rollover?
If that's right, shouldn't I fly other airlines, get less than 32,000 MQM and have a 50,000- MQM rollover in 2022?
Thanks for your thoughts!

You get zero rollover if you don't at least earn FO. If you make elite status, rollover will be the MQMs over the status you earn.

Rollover Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs)
The Rollover MQMs benefit is exclusive to Delta, and only for our Medallion Members. Special for 2020, all the MQMs that were in a Member’s account at the end of 2020 rolled over into 2021 – even if a Member hadn’t earned Medallion Status; giving our Members an even bigger jumpstart on earning towards 2022 Status. Here’s an example of how Rollover MQMs worked in 2020: if a Member rolled over 20,000 MQMs from 2019 to 2020 and earned an additional 20,000 MQMs in 2020, the Member’s final balance on December 31, 2020 was 40,000 MQMs, and all 40,000 were rolled over and counted toward earning 2022 Medallion Status. If a Member had 5,000 MQMs in their account on December 31, 2020, all 5,000 were rolled over and counted toward earning 2022 Medallion Status.
In a typical year, the Rollover MQMs benefit means MQMs earned in 2021 above a Member’s earned Medallion Tier will rollover to 2022 and count toward 2023 Medallion Status Qualification. Members who do not achieve any Tier of earned Medallion Status through the published requirements are ineligible for Rollover MQMs. Members who receive complimentary or gifted Medallion Status are only eligible for rollover MQMs if they also earn at least Silver Medallion Status through the published requirements. Members who successfully complete a Status Match Challenge are also eligible for Rollover MQMs based on their earned Medallion Status.

I think I understand, but just to make sure. I have 122K MQMs right now. I just earned another 18,750 MQMs through the Amex. However, I won't hit $15K MQDs or the $250K in spending on the card, so I'll rollover 65K MQMs (give or take)?

1) If you don't spend $25K on your Amex, but earn 3,000 - 5,999 MQD you will achieve FO and rollover 68K MQM, plus whatever you earn this year.
2) If you don't spend $25K on your Amex, but earn 6,000 - 8,999 MQD you will achieve GM and rollover 43K MQM, plus whatever you earn this year.
3) If you don't spend $25K on your Amex, but earn 9,000 - 14,999 MQD you will achieve PM and rollover 18K MQM, plus whatever you earn this year.
4) If you spend $25K on your DL Amex, and stay under 15K MQD, you will hit Platinum Medallion and roll over 18K MQMs plus whatever you earn this year.
5) If you don't spend $25K on your Amex, but earn 0 - 2,999 MQD you will achieve no status and rollover 0 MQM this year.
6) In order to achieve DM, you need to earn 33K more MQMs this year and either a) spend $250K on your DL Amex or b) earn greater than 14,999 MQDs

Yes, I hit the AmEx spend easily for Platinum. Until all the COVID rollovers, I hadn't been that close to Diamond, so I had forgotten about the much higher spend required for that status.

The percentage of platinums next year relative to other tiers will likely be at an all time high

With status being extended another year, will we also retain our fully earned MQMs to rollover next year or will only the MQMs over 125k rollover? I worked hard to earn my MQMs last year and this year, and with everyone getting a free bonus year, what happens to the MQMs we actually earned? Are those gone next year?
