Does AS elite status get me a free seat assignment on AA?

I'm an AS MVP. Does entering that number get me anything flying AA domestic on a ticket bought through AA these days? Seat assignment? Mileage credit? And does it matter what bucket I buy? Like Basic Economy? AA keeps changing the upgrade/seat assignment rules for its own elites, and I have no idea what the rules are for AS elites. Thanks.

So does AS do anything for you on getting an AA seat assignment? It doesn't say. I know partner status used to help with seats on AA.

I believe that's a coming soon w/ oneworld integration thing. Status used to get you discounted or free MCE / preferred seating, but that's been gone for some time.

OK, thanks. So I guess my MVP status currently gets me zero seating benefits on AA. BTW,is there any mileage accumulation on AS when flying on an AA ticket on AA? I assume it depends on the bucket? And any elite bump up on this earning?

there's also an earning chart at that link provided a few posts up... elite bonuses are earned based on any base earnings/class of service bonuses, same as on AS, but not for EQM purposes.

I was just able to select an "elite" seat on AA on a flight today - wasn't Main Cabin Extra... but was marked with a star on aa.com

what's scary is that its an Oasis configured 737... eeek.

I think the premium seating now only gets you preferred seats on AA such as aisle seats per a points guy article last week, plus priority check in and boarding.

However there was some backtracking later and it appears AS elite flyers will get some benefits, with more to come with oneworld. https://thepointsguy.com/news/americ...world-seating/

Those seats don't have any more leg room or anything... AA shouldn't advertise them as such. Now, on A321s, you can get fantastic exit row seats with unlimited leg room that are labeled as "preferred" (green).

At least MVPs get a much wider selection of seats in A321T - these planes usually come with only 8 or 10 middle seats (at non-MCE rows of course) available for preselection, and other seats (window and aisle) are "preferred"... Sucks to be non-status in these Economy Class I guess...
