E175 in the 49th State

Just saw this on ADN and its generally about the shift from Q400s to E175 in Alaska. But the one thing that caught my attention was mention of using E175s out of Seattle to serve Alaska because it can start the day with a load from SEA to ANC. I think this is a plan for the future, because I don't see E175 on that route. But I am also a E175 fan, would be a nice ride to ANC.

The future is very much now.

One of the big disadvantages of the Q in Alaska was it couldn't carry a load up from SEA so a lot of hours when to ferry flight. That's not the case with the E175.

Thanks! I know my friends in ANC didn't like the spell of time where Qs were serving ANC-FAI route.

i was looking at flights later this year and i think it was a late sunday night sea-anc flight that was shown as E175. Compass operated E175 to SEA-FAI for a while and I think they had issues RON at FAI with the cold temperatures- the APU had to be left on maybe and they had to leave someone on boatrd while it sat because of that? Anyone know anything about this?

The DL E175 flights to FAI were generally a redeye turn, not a RON. Somebody more technical than I can chime in, but I believe the E175 isn’t certified for ground temps past about -35. Certainly conceivable it can get that cold in FAI, although it’s not an everyday occurrence. Right now DL is running the 737-800 on SEA-FAI, and it appears on the schedule long term (although always subject to change).

ANC rarely gets below zero, so shouldn’t be any issues there.

Tempted to place an order before the winds change again.

Saw the hat, not a fan of the mesh back.

The mug is cool.

Wish they had AS masks in the company store.

Overall mixed feelings of QX intra-AK. They had to de-ice the engines last week FAI-ANC. Never heard of that on a 737. And with less capacity per plane, it makes finding flights last minute challenging.
