Also discussed here: (JL) Business JFK-TPE return for $2300

Potentially cheaper with Expedia package or IAP

Seems much cheaper now. IAP may bring down $200 more

With only $100 for a TYO stopover, this is a great Sakura fare.

Nothing from west coast unfortunately.

There is a similar ex-YVR fare.

Anyone able to book a stopover AND get the IAP price? I can get the IAP price on a RT, around $1,800. and I can price out the stopover through AA at the "normal" price plus $100pp, but as soon as I make it a multi-city itinerary on AMEX it doesn't come up with those flights at all any more, even for the non-IAP price.

Try calling it in. You're better off booking IAP by phone (and paying the extra $39) because that way it books through PTS rather than Amextravel.com (Expedia). This makes a huge difference if you ever have an issue or need to make a change.

And PTS can price certain IAP itineraries that AmexTravel.com cannot.

Hi all
I read the original posting on the FT page:
https://www.flyertalk.com/articles/p...#comment-34050
Looks like a great deal however can someone elaborate on...….

" If booked correctly, the fare could earn over 32,000 elite qualifying miles with American Airlines AAdvantage and up to $4,050 in elite qualifying dollars. This could be enough to earn AAdvantage Gold status in just one flight" (BOOKED CORRECTLY PLEASE EXPLAIN))

and

"One stopover is permitted in each direction in Japan Airlines’ Area 3, which includes the East Indies, Australia, New Zealand and many other South Pacific islands. Adding on a stopover costs $100 per stopover, per ticket." IE: JFK-KUL(STOP) TPE/ TPE-MNL(STOP) JFK.....IS THIS STOPOVER ITINERARY POSSIBLE OR SOMETHING SIMILAR FOR AN EXTRA $200?

Thanks in advance for responses...…..

As long as you are booking flights with JAL flight numbers, you will be fine. The itins are mainly JAL-marketed and operated so it should not be a concern.

The stopover is going to be only valid at a Japanese gateway to TPE (KIX/TYO/NGO).
