Marriott resorts doesn't offer breakfast as welcome amenity?

I check in to Hurghada Marriott resorts in Egypt and my rate doesn't include breakfast, the welcome amenity choice does not including breakfast in the restaurant, front desk said 20 dollars per day so I bought it but now I check T&C as follow:

RESORTS only:
United States, Canada, Europe: 1,000 Points per Stay or breakfast in restaurant per day of Stay for Member +1

Asia, Australia, Pacific Islands, Caribbean, Mexico, Central America, South America, Middle East, and Africa: 1,000 Points per Stay or F&B amenity per Stay or breakfast in restaurant per day of Stay for Member +1

I don't want be a difficult customer but am I paying for something that I am entitled for ? Should I check with front desk about this??

If you are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite or higher at a Resort branded as Marriott (the hotel brand, not the company), then your Welcome Gift options should include "breakfast in restaurant per day of Stay for Member +1."

If such a Resort fails to offer the Welcome Gift choices properly, then you can request the $100 USD (equivalent in local currency) compensation. You must do while you are a guest at the hotel.

Keep in mind that the rules a different for Hotels and Resorts at five Rewards-legacy brands. The Platinum Elite breakfast benefit at Hotels is based on Guaranteed Lounge Access (as in the old Rewards program), but at Resorts, it's based on the Guaranteed Welcome Gift (as in the old SPG program).

The $20 most likely is the cost of breakfast. Allows one to take something other than the offered breakfast buffet. Ie a special dish from an a la carte menu, etc..

I think the OP meant that breakfast cost $20 per day when pre-booked at the front desk - they said the "bought it."

Isn't there a difference between "resorts" and the standard properties. I recalled that at the Sheraton property in Oahu that there was some new restriction of lounge for as it was a resort.

I interpret the OP as saying that he/she purchased the $20 breakfast coupons/tickets/vouchers at check in.

Thanks for all the response, the situation is that my rate is not including breakfast, as far as I know and any Asia marriott resorts I've been to, they either provide it for free or, choose it as welcome amenity.

But when I check In to Hurghada marriott, the welcome gift card choice is either 1000 points or cheese and coke which I don't want to. I ask can I choose breakfast instead? She seems doesn't understand and told me you can choose from the items on the card... and then she told me breakfast is 20 dollars a day , no free for plat and above.

I bought it at check in then after a few hours I check T&C and saw the response from Horace I know something was wrong, I am paying for something I am entitled for. So I go downstairs to ask the front desk and he told me he " will get it back for me".

I will update if anything charges when I check out..

Last, Both Cairo Marriott and Mena house is fantastic but I don't recommend Hurghada marriott, it was too tired and it can barley meet the standard of a international CY, not to mentioned Marriott.

The suite is like an airbnb condo , the sheet with slightly yellow stained and bath shower gel is something you never seen...I have no idea how this place earn a 4.5 rating. Probably the guest here have low standard, Red Sea it self is beautiful though.

This is the least appealing marriott I've stayed.

1. Request the $100 USD (equivalent in local currency) compensation from the Hurghada Marriott Beach Resort for its failure to comply properly with the Guaranteed Platinum Welcome Gift benefit. Make sure your request is on record.

2. Contact the Marriott Bonvoy Lurker II for assistance. This is not just for you, but also for future Platinum Elite (and higher) guests. This resort needs to be brought into compliance with Marriott's published benefits.

Prior to August 18, 2018, Marriott Resorts were excluded from any Elite breakfast benefit. That's no longer the case.

There are also quite a few resort properties that offer the Platinum/Titanium Welcome Gift benefit for breakfast, but then only offer a continental breakfast or a muffin or something similar. Why can't Marriott just offer a proper welcome gift of free full breakfast for their most loyal guests, without $6-$18 upcharges for the hot items.

As far as I know JW MARRIOTT GUANACASTE RESORT & SPA is such a hotel that platinum breakfast is not offering at full breakfast restaurants.

Please let us know what else more bad marriott resorts that doesn't offering full breakfast in the restaurant so we can avoid and let everyone know about this.

If possible, OP should retain or take a picture of the amenity choice card that was presented at check in.
