Seats 3K and 4K Missing?

I am booked in early February on a British Airways 777-200 (4 class) from Heathrow to Seattle and back. I’m in F and seats 3K and 4K are blocked out some days and other days they are not. Why?

It may be that the seats don't exist at all. There are a few 777s with 12 seats in F as there is a crew rest where 4K would have been. In this case, if 2K is available, you should grab it. My other favourite in this configuration is 4F ... there is very very little traffic past these seats

Probably the 12F variant scheduled on those days. The space is used for a crew rest area.

I now try not to select 3/4K on 772 flights, due to the risk of seat shifting from an equipment change to 12F (happened to me a couple of times).

The 772 is the worst F of BA’s fleet, right?

It's not the best, which in my opinion is the 380, but the seats are the same in the 772s as in the 747s - they are perfectly comfortable with a 6' 6" flatbed and the 777 cabin is less cramped, especially in the 12F formation.

It's been 3 years or so since i have been on a 12F 777 so I'm not 100% clear on whether it might now have the latest inflight entertainment, but otherwise it has USB charging, power sockets, electric window blinds, reasonable privacy, especially on the K side - there are definitely worse ways to travel!

The 380 has a better F seat and some might say that the 789 also has a better overall F experience (bigger screen, more storage) but it's not as solidly built as the 777s!

The seat itself is the same in the 744 and the 772, but depending on which seat number, the "suite" space is not. The 772 is pretty consistent for total space per seat, whereas some seats on the 744 are distinctly lacking in personal space, particularly 4EF/5EF. I'm not a massive fan of 1A/K on the 744 either, unless all I want to do on the flight is sleep. I'm a fan of 2K generally in F.

Sadly the 12F 772s are still featuring the ancient and very poor Rockwell Collins IFE, so I'd be loading a tablet with content if on one of those, even in F. The 14F 772s should all have at least Thales IFE, which is fine, but I'm not totally certain about that. I would take a 14F 772 over a 744 or 12F 772, but within the 777 fleet, BA's fleet management has made this a bit unpredictable, at least for me. Had at least 3 last minute 772 frame changes with a different F configuration in the last year or so, hence my new policy of avoiding 3/4K on those where possible.

Only on my 772 going LHR-SEA. On my outbound from SFO-LHR it’s an A380

100% correct. Many of the 747 F seats are smaller than the 777 F seats. 4/5 EF significantly so.
