2019 spend for 2020 travel

for a variety of reasons, I am interested in applying funds in 2019 for planned travel in 2020
is this that United's travel bank is for?
other ideas or options?
probably about US$5-10K
probably not enough to enroll some of the programs that offer free 1k/GS status

Can you just buy the tickets now?

BTW, airline "spend" for elite status is counted for the year the flights are flown, not the year in which tickets are purchased.

Purchasing unrestricted tickets for travel on/around your intended dates is another option. Just change them when you want to book.

It might help to know why the OP wants to do this. If it's a matter of credit card spend, expenses other than travel or plane tickets would work equally well.
