Priority Seating for Immediate Family SE benefit

I seem to recall an altitude email explaining that Priority Seating for no charge was permitted for immediate family members of SE members. I cant find this detail/email anymore and searching the forum didnt find anything for me. Can anyone recall this/point me to this or is my mind playing tricks on me. (I have been able to do this for my spouse for sometime now and have done for my parents twice this year).

Thank you,

That has never been officially permitted.

In my experience, it's also never been unofficially permitted, nor do I think it should be permitted, so I would not advocate for that.

HUCA is meant for when you want to do something that is allowed, but the agent is incompetent. Not for when you're trying to break the rules.

The image posted seems to pretty clearly list the options available to the SE. By default, anything excluded on that list would presumably not be permitted.

It’s the same booking. So the altitude member needs to be on it, I mean I’m sure we can all think of ways around that but they aren’t permitted and I can see AC being upset if they are abused. And AC has history of being upset by people abusing certain things...

If you are not travelling, I would advocate paying the extra...

They do need to be travelling with you on the same booking number.

Officially allowed: companions on the same booking
Unofficially allowed: companions travelling on the same flight(s), but on a different booking
Not allowed: family members not travelling with you

I have asked them to link the bookings so I can get family/friends to sit with me on the same flight.
They book basic economy and I book flex class.

This isn't really relevant to OP's question, which is about getting this benefit when not traveling with the family members.

This sums it up best. Also depends on the agent for point 2, more likely to get a concierge to do point 2.

It's very easy to justify if you're on the flight.

In my case, I'm in J and they're in Y. If I had booked Y on the same PNR, it would be allowed. So it makes no sense to deny it when I've decided to pay for J, which necessitated a separate PNR.

Yes. But I have had phone agents that have refused even when they are family members. The agent insisted that they need to be on the same booking number. I was on paid tickets and they were on AE.
