Transit info in LHR T5
My mother is flying from Dublin to LHR T5 and then to BLR on all BA flights
She will transit within T5 in LHR.I was planning to fly with her until LHR. Ie from Dub to LHR and back to Dublin on later BA flight. As per LHR transit details page, my mom will get out of her Dub-LHR flight, go through security and goto her LHR-BLR gate. (no transit immigration to but only security check)Does anyone know if Dublin gates are in different area from long haul BLR gates? Can I go with her and remain with her at the BLR gates and then go back to my Dublin gate?

yes you could go to her gate with her and then make your way back to the Dublin flight
Dublin will probably leave from T5A. so if she leaves from B or C you should use the tunnels to walk back

The DUB will likely arrive into T5A. The BLR flight would be T5B or T5C.
You can go to T5B and T5C, but you need to be careful when coming back to T5A. If you take the train, then you'll end up at arrivals, and have to clear security again. That may cause issues as you've already been processed once.
If you walk, then there are no issues.

arriving and departing passengers in T5 do not mix, so you will not be able to got to the gate with her. You will have to go landside. Your mother can potentially go landside with you can taje her to security in the departures area, or she will head to the transit area separately from you

Everything that has been said in the previous posts is correct, but I don't think that an inbound flight from DUB will need to clear security again, doesn't it? I think it's considered a UK&I arrival, with no security checks for transfers and direct access to the departure lounge.

If you were to book a DUB-LHR-DUB service then you can be with her the whole way until the BLR gate check, and then return to DUB, so long as you get the timings right (and don't accidentally book an Aer Lingus flight!). You should read the passageway guide so you know how to go from (e.g.) T5B to T5A. You won't need to go via security again if you read the guide.
In which case, and knowing she may be in a wheelchair, you would have 2 routes, one via landside, and one airside. If you booked assistance you'd be going airside and you would be briefly separated since you would have to clear UK and Ireland passports - which is unnecessary hence why for you landside is easier. However you do it there is a security check, and however you do it there isn't a formal passport check for your mother.
For the flight from DUB-LHR you will arrive at gate 23 or near to there.

If you are going back to DUB on the same day, and you are already checked in then you can go through security with her and then escort her to the gate for her flight. This is constrained by you having a valid boarding pass.
The DUB flights will arrive at gate A23 or A22.
Longhaul flights leave from B and C gates in general.
Your flight back to DUB will leave from an A gate.
Arriving from DUB you can either exit without passing passport control and take a lift to Departures and pass security, or you can follow the purple flight connections route.
Once you have both passed security you can get to all gates. Be careful using the transit... If you go to the C gates and back to the A gates you will be seen as an arriving transfer passenger again.
This thread will help you with how to get to and from A, B & C gates without going back through security.

All Ireland inbound flights have to clear security before onward connections, for the time being, hence the arrangements at gate 23. There are moves afoot to change that, but it's probably 3 years off. If the travellers were coming from Belfast or any other domestic location arriving into T5 then there is no security check in LHR for a T5 departure.

flying with my mom from dub to lhr BA flight
she is flying from LHR to BLR on BA
I am flying very late in the evening from LHR to DUB on BA.
so all are in T5.
she is on wheelchair. so if i follow her, we will go via airside. as per your note, we will be briefly separated. why is it so? can i not be with her during passport control?
could i not go through passport control along with her wheelchair?

If you can persuade the Assistance staff to go landside then this isn't an issue but they may not understand the logic of doing that.

Thanks all for the guidance. It helped a lot.
Did this today. Didn't use wheelchair for my Mom as we had plenty of time.
Read/understood the info wrong at the beginning. When I got out of the plane from Dublin in T5A, i took the lifts down to - 4 (before going to boarding pass scan for non eu or passport scan for irish in t5a). It took me to walkway but I was walking in opposite direction. When I reached t5b, there was security but didn't let me go as I had boarding pass for Dublin which was in t5a. But nice lady told me to go back and use the relevant lines in t5a and told its just momentary separation.
Only then I realised my error.
From there on, all went well.
Thanks once again.
