Heathrow Hotel
Hi
My old man has an early BA flight from T3 tomorrow and is staying in Holiday Inn (Arial) hotel.
I have suggested he uses the London Transport 111 or 285 buses between hotel and airport. Am I correct in thinking he would get on the bus at Harlington Corner, and get off at Heathrow Central Bus Station?
Is this bus stop close to the hotel? And is this bus free in both directions?
Thanks immensely

105, 111, 140, 285 & N9 all go to Central Bus Station for T3. The first four terminate there, N9 goes on to T5.
All bus travel to and from Harlington Corner and the terminals is free, so from hotel to airport just cross the Bath Road - it’s about a minute depending on traffic/pedestrian light changes. The exact stop from airport to hotel will depend on the bus number, but it’ll all come under Harlington Corner. Some stop directly outside or directly opposite, some have a 70 yard walk, but it’s quickest just to get on the first one whatever the number.

It is free, and yes the bus stop is on the corner by the Ariel. The only thing to watch is getting to the correct bus stop, when departing the hotel, it's at the diagonal opposite to the hotel and may take a few minutes to reach do due to the phasing of the traffic lights. The bus stop has a dot matrix display to indicate the bus is going to Heathrow. There are also usually a lot of people at that bus stop - working at the airport - since it's an interchange bus stop from other routes.
From Heathrow it's more obvious and there usually an announcement made that the free bus zone is about to end at Harlington Corner. Some buses turn the corner at the hotel, some go on down Bath Road, but the stop and hotel are easy to work out, just tell him to look leftwards for the big green H. At Heathrow you want the second last bus stop in the series of bus stop at Heathrow Central, again usually a lot of airport workers at the stop concenred.
There are a lot more bus services than the two you mentioned.

Good grief, introduce him to FT immediately .
Just to add to the post from cws, the bus stop at Central Bus Station is (I think) nominally 12 (nearly at the end on the left as you exit the bus station building, just cross the pedestrian crossing and bear left), but there are a lot of buses that use it and in reality they pull up in the general area and load - it’s pretty obvious, you see them coming in and dropping off first, but just something to be aware of.
Coming back in, the buses drop off close to the signed entrance. There is a sneaky short cut to the escalators leading down to the Underground and T2/3 tunnels which avoids walking through the bus station, but on this occasion it sounds better if your father just follows the signs!

As the buses are free, you can board by the back door, there is no need to interact with the driver except to say hello. Before 6am they can sometimes be extremely crowded by the time they get to Harlington Corner, which means you may not be able to get on with luggage and have to wait for another bus. They are reasonably frequent though so no need to worry too much.

I stayed at the Arial at Harlington Corner last night and caught the free bus into Heathrow central bus station early this morning.
It is as others have said above.
Just a quick note, as the Piccadilly line is closed between Hammersmith and LHR all weekend and tomorrow, the buses were very busy, but they are pretty frequent. I managed to get on the second bus that came along to Heathrow Central Bus Station but had to stand for the journey, but it was only about 10 minutes max. Although there are tube replacement buses running from LHR to Hammersmith Tube station, it seemed a lot of people were using the normal buses instead.
