Buying Avios cheaper: Changing to EU address

I notice that purchasing Avios is up to 30% cheaper if you have a EU vs a US address on your BA profile.
Has anyone successfully temporarily changed their address temporarily to take advantage of the pricing variance?

For example, under the current promo one can buy 200k Avios + 100k bonus (total of 300k Avios) for
- 3601 Euros with an EU address (approx USD 4100)
- 5500 USD with a USA address

I dont want to get in to trouble with BA for doing so.
What would you recommend?

You can only change your BAEC address once every six months so think about the implication of that before doing it.

for example any avios from a US based CC won’t be posted until your address reverts back to the US.

Prices and promotions come and go, and I think that changing to try and optimise things would be a big waste on the whole.

A few years ago, having a continental European address was better due to lower qualification thresholds, but nowadays, by far the best deal is for people with a UK address. They get avios from shopping at Tesco's and Amex with 2 for 1 vouchers, plus at GGL level, they get invited to a lot more events as the vast majority of them only target UK based members.

Second best option is US based address because of the Chase thing. Not sure if there might be an equivalent bank deal in Canada.

The rest of the world gets the crumbs so frankly, I see little point in moving your address anywhere beyond those places unless you are targeting a very specific, short lived and ad hoc promotion. By contrast, I can see why some people may choose to move their BAEC address to the UK.

If you are buying Avios directly from either airline, you're doing it wrong...

My good sir/madam, one should NEVER buy a 'few hundred thousand' avios, regardless of the possible redemption. Far better in 99% of these cases to simply buy a ticket outright! Small exceptions for flexibility purposes or a last-minute booking with only Y class fares available.

Perhaps if you give us more details we may be able to be of more help.

Thank you...

I need to return from HKG towards London right after new year's.
One way. Two adults and a child. Cannot think of a better option than spending 90k miles per person in business class.

May sure there is availability before you spend a lot of cash on Avios...
