Makes sense to me.
The airline doesn't want passengers travelling o/d on SJD-LAX to take up seats on either SJD-DFW or DFW-LAX, so it prices that connection prohibitively expensive.

I'm guessing the lower fare buckets are unavailable for the married segments so this is full fare Y and In only.

Current SJD-LAX fare filings do not permit DFW connections (only PHX is allowed). It's simply a broken fare combination where you have to upfare to full-Y fares to combine on a single ticket due to fare combinability restrictions. There's L bucket availability on these flights, but there's no single fare filing that would apply since they don't allow the DFW connection.
