CDG-LAX...better to connect through Philly or Dallas?
I'm in process of booking return flight from Europe in early January...I can do either Dallas (787/321) or Philly (332)...I can use Miles (220K+ 260 fees) or buy tickets (800)...one is business, the other economy with no seats until 24 hours (iiberia flying aa)
Two questions:
1. Which would be better...in both business and economy? Seems like Philly planes are empty, and CDG-DFW is more full? Never flown on a 787...wouldn't mind trying it out!
2. Which is better connection? I guess in January less chance of flight delay in Dallas? Also, better to take long first leg/short second, or two longish ones?
Thanks in advance...I don't fly much these days, and haven't been to Europe in eons. Also, I'm flying with my son and have some concerns about getting a seat next to him. (not an issue with business)

You are going to get a wide range of opinions on this - because it comes down to personal preferences.
But one question: is the CDG-PHL-LAX an A330 on both flights?
If so I'd take that route in either economy or business. If in business: you'd have fully lie flat seats the whole way. If in economy: I personally consider the A330 coach seats to be the most comfortable in the fleet.

If I am flying economy, I prefer evenly split flight times, if possible. In this case, PHL would be the choice. I wouldn't really care about aircraft/airport/lounge if flying economy.
In business I usually prefer the flight with the shortest domestic flight and the longest international flight to get an extra hour of continuous lie-flat sleep (it makes a difference, at least to me). In this case, I don't care if the second short leg (DFW-XXX) is on a recliner F seat as it is already day time and I wouldn't sleep on the second leg (not good to avoud jetlag) and instead read the news, get ready for the afternoon/ evening ahead
DFW is a nicer airport and less prone to weather delays than PHL in the winter.

DFW: Forthcoming FL lounge (for qualifying flyers as of the end of 2019Q1)
PHL: Dream on
These aren't really legitimate reasons to pick a routing but hey, why not?

Westbound in C is less interesting, however you will be spending a long time in a seat. I would take business if you can. That said, Friday I will spend 16 hours in 4 Economy seats (3 short and 1 long-haul). As for routings, DFW is better than PHL. Lower risk of misconnect and more alternatives if you do,
