Fine if you are in striking distance of LHR or LGW, not so much of a bargain if flying from the regions.

Some of the best bargains though were in November - before those magical Christmas markets open.

Isn't the biggest christmas market in Europe in Birmingham?

Seems to be one of those things which has self manufactured in recent years. When I was in Germany they'd appear for a couple of weeks before christmas, and you'd get cheap Gluhwein in the cold. Places like Budapest barely have one at all, still, but get sold as a european christmas market.

Then there's Brum where it's massively overpriced and goes on for months...

We always do a bunch of our Xmas food shopping at Borough. Somewhat overpriced at times but a good way to feel Christmassy, glugging mulled wine while you jostle in the queue for sprouts...

You should check out the more offbeat locations in Germany with traditional Christmas markets because they can be really nice and less crowded. I was at a small one, by comparison, in Chur in Switzerland last year and it was one of the nicest ones I've been to. Chur is a easily reached by train from ZRH airport.

There's CJ Salzburg from Manchester starting Sat 16th December. Eurowings start 4th December.

If they were "literally" becoming Ryanair then they would be getting rid of business class. They are not.

Indeed. Personally the idea of trudging around in the snow is a scene from hell but I like the idea of the prices just fine. If there were to be one in Berlin I’d head there.

Nice. Surely you don't 'trudge' anywhere though...

I just think the snow looks so pretty
