Delta promises upgrades to long-haul economy
Long on fluff, short on detail, but here are the bullets:
Details: http://news.delta.com/international-...als-and-menu-0
- In November, the airline will be launching customer experience menu cards, which will include information on timing for each service and details on the inflight food and beverage offerings
- In December, the airline will launch new upgraded cutlery in the Main Cabin.
- The airline will launch upgraded meals and new serviceware on long-haul international flights in mid-2018. The new collection will include newly designed trays and upgraded rotable serviceware that will complement investments in meal quality to provide customers a restaurant-style dining experience.
- Delta will be upgrading the Delta Comfort+ and Main Cabin pillows on all international long-haul flights

hopefully the "investments in meal quality" include slightly better red and white wines to match the new prosecco. The white in particular is borderline undrinkable right now, IMHO; even the old boxed Bandit wine was better.
If DL plays their cards right, they might even be able to get a partner to subsidize the improvement (perhaps one of the emerging higher-quality boxed wine brands?)
That issue aside, IMHO Delta already has a fantastic main cabin dining experience on long haul flights, so any additional investments will hopefully just make things even better...

Looks like it is the whole set. Tray, dishes and utensils.

"long-haul economy" - a service I have yet to become familar with and hope it stays that way!

Its appreciated that DL is investing in the food and other cabin amenities and entertainment experiences. If I was flying in long haul coach however, seat comfort and space is the #1 item I'm concerned about.

I was thinking some sort of round divided dish that moves around in a circle so that you can move away your empty appetizer section to get better access to the main course and then desert. It would avoid the problem of the FA needing to deliver a meal tray with the correct side toward the passenger.

And on SQ, you can book the cook.
